This is for Blazer:

Browns starting QB next year and why: Holcomb, Couch or neither.

Eric:
Indians staff has a lot of good arms coming up. Sabathia, Cliff Lee, Tallet, Rodriquez, Guthrie and a couple of Double-A guys that are top prospects. What do you think of these guys and when do you think they'll break into the rotation?

Thanks ssd.

Thanks ssd.

Holcomb is not just a flash in the pan. It's been 6 years since he was tossing balls for MTSU and Quarterbacks who have had that kind of expirence on the sideline usually have some ability or they are out of the league. Holcomb will stay in Clev. In the current world of often injured NFL QB's look for Clev. to hold both and don't be surprized if Holcomb comes in week 2-3 and claims the job. Couch has the stronger arm and will emerge out of training camp but arm strenght isn't all it takes. That Holcomb guy has heart. Grossi with The Clevevelend Plain Dealer thinks that the trade talk are just that.....talk but check this out.

In an interview on Sporting News Radio with James Brown, Couch sounded as if he is mentally conditioning himself for a trade.

"In this league, quarterbacks change teams all the time, and so, definitely, that is in my mind that it is a possibility and that it might happen," he said. "I'm really preparing like I'm going to be here in Cleveland and I don't want to get my mind wandering somewhere else, but if it does happen, then I'll have to go make it somewhere else and continue to work hard and let things happen for me."

Sounds like someone dropped hints to our Brownie boy. My money is on both returning to the Brown Cloth but Drew Bledsoe got traded last year so don't be too surprised.

makes me sick to think the browns are actually shopping couch and thinking of keeping holcomb as their starter. have been subjected to talk radio for the last year and the adage is true- "the most popular player on a football team is ALWAYS the backup quarterback". im happy as hell holcomb was able to step in for couch when he was hurt- but why anyone thinks holcomb is better than couch is beyond me. oh well. the debate will continue from now until camp, and ill have to be subjected to couch v. holcomb on the radio 24 hrs a day until then, lmao.

ssn:
jmo- but guthrie is gonna be the best out of all of em when its said and done. hes starting at AA this year and theyre looking for him to be a september callup and break into the rotation full time next year (2004).

on that note, pi$$es me off that the indians FINALLY have an abundance of pitching prospects, a year after they blow up the team. where was this talent when their pitchers were getting bombed in the playoffs the L5 years? uggghh. all the hitting in the world and no pitching from 1994-2001. and now, its the exact opposite, lmao.
