We would also like to commend congressional intern Dan Hernendez, whose quick application of his nursing training skills and his ability to remain calm under pressure who is credited with saving the life of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, and of course Joe Zamudio, who was buying cigarettes nearby and raced toward the hail of bullets, his own weapon at the ready, eventually helping to pin shooter Loughner to the ground until police arrived.
?These guys are heroes also no doubt,? Evans also adds.
Evans continues, ?What more can be said about these people? Each one is a true American hero who gambled with their own lives to save others. We could not choose just one. So that is all I will say about this since their actions speak for themselves except to add that if I were Safeway exec, I would be giving these heroes and victims free groceries for a year because even due to no fault of their own, Safeway was not a safe place to be that day.
