I had no play on this game, side or total, but:

WTF is he doing kicking a field goal, down 4 pts, on fourth and 4 from Miami's 10 yard line with 2 minutes to go?

When these things come up(everybody bitching), I can usually see at least some rationale, but this one was beyond explanation.

These coaches pull out their little cards to decide whether they should go for two points because of the 'percentages', yet this guy figured that he had a better chance to kick the FG, get an on-side kick, then drive down for another field goal than to convert a fourth and four.

The fact that they missed the chippy is totally irrelevant. That call was HORRIBLE.

Kosar, I couldn't agree with you more! I had Miami -2.5 and I was DAMN SURPRISED to see Holmgren going for a FG that late down by 4. I guess he figured Lindell was going to make the FG, get the ball back and make another one to win but with so little time left, that was just out and out DUMB, in my opinion. All I can say (and it was a short one, too!) is THANK GOD Lindell missed!! These have been going against me lately, but with that miss and late "miracle" TD from San Diego to help me win a teaser.....just shows each week truly is different, unique and exciting, if nothing else.

I said this a few weeks back........Holmgren is very overrated.....without Favre,Fritz Shurmer(Defense) and Ron Wolf (Drafting) all the guys he had by his side in GB...he sucks. Not starting Dilfer today was a joke....In my opinion I think Dennis Erickson did as good of a job as Holmgren has done....

I doubt it, but nothing would surprise me..lol

Night Owl,

Glad you got the win on that unlikely miss.

Also, in that game, I saw something that I have never seen before. I'm sure a lot of the country had the game, but:

Shaun Alexander, 'on the field', was determined to have fumbled. They reviewed it and then announced that he was down by contact and it wasn't a fumble. They then went BACK to the peep show, came out and said, "YES, it WAS a fumble".

The thing is, the replays CLEARLY AND WITHOUT A DOUBT showed that Alexander was lying on the ground for AT LEAST a full second and a Miami player, almost as an afterthought, grabbed at the ball and dislodged it. You know, it happens all the time, the play is over and people just kind of slap at the ball in frustration, or whatever.

How in the hell this official could look at this play at say that it was a fumble is TOTALLY astounding.

And THEN to make the right call, announce it to the world, then get a divine intervention to go look AGAIN (has this EVER happened?) and reverse the correct call to make a simply atrocious call? WTF???

It wasn't even close.

LOL....I was thinking exactly the same thing. I have no idea what was going through Holmgren's melon and still cannot come up with anything logical.

This was equally perplexing: In the Buff/SD game, when the Bills were driving down for the game-tying FG, they chose to attempt the FG on 2nd down with :15 seconds on the clock. FIFTEEN friggin seconds. And at 44-yards, it wasn't exactly a chip shot. They could have ran at least 1 (maybe 2) more plays! Now, I'm aware that Rob Johnson makes bad decisions and holds onto the ball too long and, with no time-outs, a sack probably would have ended the game, but....the guy threw for 310 yds and ran for another 70. He had been making plays all day. How does a coach have enough confidence to start a guy at QB in the NFL, but no confidence in him during crunch time. Why not take a shot at the end zone or try to get 5-10 yards closer? I don't get it. Oh yeah, the kick was blocked.

Is that true Lindell was SHORT on the 28 yarder? He better start hitting the want ads.

Wolf has exposed Holmgren twice. He got Ahman Green for Derrick Mayes and he knew Hasselbeck was no second coming of Favre.

the fg was wide left. I couldn't slice my driver any better than he hooked that attempt. I had Seattle. Right before the FG they cut too commercial, I see Holmgren mouth what I thought was "Field Goal". I couldn't believe my luck. When they came back from the timeout, and the FG unit was sent in, I did a little jig... Then the Dirty Rat Bastard missed it...
