I'm writing this up today because I'll be out of commission for a few days. Might be around tomorrow.

First of all, what a beauty that Gatti fight was. Just two guys slugging it out. That's why when Boxing is at its best its better than any other sport. I laid off it because I liked Gatti but not for that price. I'm glad I did. Man, blood, cuts, guts, swelling, knockdowns from body shots. Beautiful.

However, the HBO guys were gushing over the character of these two guys, using the word "honest" several times. Well, if anyone remembers when Gatti fought Joey Gamache, basically Gatti got on the scale at the weigh-in, the "cam" shot up to the top, he got off the scale and drank a bottle of water while a NY state commissioner certified him as OK to fight (everyone involved got sued because of the weigh-in but I don't know what became of it). He was clearly overweight and probably outweighed gamache by 15 pounds at fight time. No big deal except he put Gamache in the hospital, wrecked his face and basically retired this good young fighter from my home state of Maine.

Now, Holyfield-Rahman. This one should be a no contest. If ever the name of a fighter was keeping a line low, this is it. Rahman is a very solid fighter and would be favored in this fight even if he never knocked out the Champ. He should have beat Tua and mainly lost that fight because tua hit him after the bell in the 9th which staggered him for the 10th. he was winning that fight.

If you watched any of the Ruiz-Holyfield fights, it is clear that Holyfield can't see a right hand coming any more. Either he's too slow, or he has a blind spot or something. He was defenseless against the straight right. And what is the bread and butter of Hasim Rahman? The straight right.

Now, Holyfield stays on his feet well as we all know, but those power shots from Rahman's righteous right hand are going to score big on the judges cards and Holyfield hasn't knocked anyone out since 1997. That's 5 years for the mathematically challenged. I see an EASY decision for Rahman.

I got rahman at -160. You should be able to find at least that if you look. A big 3 unit fight for me.

I have to agree about the Gatti fight myself. As I was weeping over my losing tickets in the Preakness, that fight brought a smile to my face. One of the best fights that I have seen in a long time. Both Gatti and Ward fought like warriors. For a moment in the 9th and 10th rounds I thought I was watching Rocky and Drago going at it in the middle of the ring. --DAK
