Well, I haven't had a situation in a while where I could be a Homer, but tonight's match-up presents jsut that.

Kentucky VS. Florida (-6)

During the pre-season, there were two teams in the SEC. Both hailing from the East and neither are poised at the top of their division (thanks to my dawgs :D ) Tonight's match-up was the one circled on every SEC fans calendar to be the premiere game of the year from this heavily talented conference. NOTE: Both of these teams were schooled on their homecourt by Georgia (once again :D )

Anyway, 6 points either way is too many in this game to logically give to the other team. Florida is not 6 points more talented, but they do have 6 points worth of heart over the un-motivated Wildcats. Looking beyond that, UK has the ability and the coaching to put the clamps on the Gator offense and keep this game very tight. If this game doesn't go to the wire, I will be completely shocked. I am now with the rest of the sports watching community in saying that it is time that the two pre-season All-Americans from this Kentucky squad start playing like it. Put the ball in their hands and let the chips fall as they may. If they don't get it done in the first half, let the defenses over-react to their talent and get the other guys on the team the ball.

I look for this game to be decided by 3 or less, but I am not sure which way. I am taking the points and look forward to a great game.

I saw a snippet of info that Florida has won the last 3 meetings between these two teams in florida.

I was thinking of taking the ml ...taking florida

I also read that Tubby is benching a few of the starters to try to kick start them. That may backfire. Kentucky not used to losing this much.

any thoughts

These two teams have the recent history of winning at home against each other. Going on that, Florida ML would be a stats bet. I don't play trends at all, though so that didn't come into play for me.

Kentucky has a very solid bench, so benching a couple of starters will probably not hurt as much as most teams. Bogans should be on the bench. he has no heart. Erik Daniels and Cory Sears could both be starters at most programs in the country and should be able to fill the Bogans-void. Rashad Carruth could also benefit from more minutes or a bigger reliability role put on him. Very talented Freshman (unfortunately also out of GA).

Hopefully Tubby is correct in his assumption that this will jump-start his players. The team (excluding Fitch) looks to Prince and Bogans as leaders and neither one has produced. Fitch is the player everyone should be looking toward. He is the catlyst of this club. Too bad Georgia lost him to UK in recruiting (he was runner-up for Georgia's Mr. Basketball).

As for an analysis of this game, Florida has the potential to blow this one wide open based on this season alone. This rivalry and the heat that this season is putting on this Cats squad should be motivation enough to keep the game tight, though. Florida does rank 4th in the SEC in FT%, so fouling late in the game may hurt a UK cover.

Just my perspective. Not touting this as a strong pick, thus the name of the thread being a Homer pick. I was born and raised in Kentucky.
