Ok I love this tournament.I almost won this in 1999 with Doug Dunakey. We finished t-3rd.One stroke behind the late Payne Stewart and 2 behind the winner Vijay. We had an 8 footer to T-2 and never hit the hole, but it still for me was the best golf shot I ever seen out of a fairway bunker under pressure.Don't know where Doug is today ,but it was a great week.

Nice starts by Jacobsen, Donald and Els.

I was teetering on the Jacobbsen over Scott. Especially with adam and a long putter, but in the back of my mind i couldnt make fredrick a favorite over adam. GL

Best player without a PGA Tour title? Overton likes Honda setup

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. ? Jeff Overton arrived for the Honda Classic this week with good vibes.

The man who may be the best player without a PGA Tour title stirred some good memories driving through the entrance of PGA National. This is where Overton won the Optimist International Junior Golf Championship 10 years ago. Overton and his father drove from the family?s Evansville, Ind., home to play his senior year.

?It was the only national junior golf tournament I won,? Overton said.

Overton is making his 140th PGA Tour start this week. He enjoyed a torrid run last year where he recorded three second-place finishes and two third-place finishes in a 10-tournament run in the middle of the season, a streak that helped him make the U.S. Ryder Cup team. He?s looking to heat up after a sluggish West Coast swing, where he made the cut in all four stroke-play starts but recorded his best finish in a tie for 20th at the Sony Open.

?For whatever reason, I?ve never played well on the West Coast,? Overton, 27, said. ?I always thought it was because I take time off in the winter. But this year, I really didn?t take much time off. I thought my game was pretty good, so maybe it?s just that I don?t putt well on poa annua grass or desert-like greens. I really like Bermuda. I?m comfortable on it, and I?m just really looking forward to this tournament starting.?

Overton?s best West Coast finish in six seasons on the PGA Tour is a tie for 19th at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am four years ago. He tied for ninth at the Honda Classic two years ago.

I personally cannot remember the last time I saw such brutal conditions/tough course on American soil as this. It was like watching a train wreck. I am just shocked at what I just witnessed.

Was it that bad? I didnt see any coverage.

Amazing round by a 55 year old Nick Price. I wish Verplank would have tee'd off. I still will take my 2 matchups after 1. :00hour

The Yang over Kim play was definitely the last one on my list. It came down to that one or the Vegas fade for me. GL :toast:

Round 2 play (4pts):

Vaughn Taylor to beat Tommy Gainey -110 @ 5Dimes
Gainey is making the most of his second shot on the PGA Tour - he has played in every tournament so far this year, apart from the Tournament of Champions for which he wasn't eligible. This will be his eighth straight week of Tour golf and, even though he started well and currently lies in 20th place, fatigue will surely be a factor sooner rather than later and particularly in the very strong winds forecast for today. Taylor, by contrast, has played in just four event this year, finishing 25th, 49th, 26th and 25th, so his form clearly points to a continuation of his current top-20 position in this event. And then there is today's weather forecast. It should be a sizeable advantage for Taylor that he tees off first at 6:50am and by the time that Gainey tees off in the very last group at 1:09pm, the greens should have become extremely slick and the course very difficult from a day of 30 km/h winds.
