Is it just me or is this a little much? I mean who cares what she said about the Sweden team? Is it because it was the Olympics? I just don't get it, athletes do far worse than this and don't get any punishment, seems ridiculous :shrug:

Exactly right. They want to sell young innocent women. Everyone should read the book "Everything your coach never told you because your a girl" I read chapters to my girls at practice periodically. Fantastic read... USA women soccer want to portray the little girls are innocent stuff in media and super sweet. If hope solo is not in the team in 3 years then we are not going to France with our best 11. Simple as that.

Yep. As an athlete her competitiveness and want to win is second to none. She's fearless in the back and organizes her defense and team in front of her extremely well.

When scurry played ahead of her in that match, it was an inexplicable decision and criminal coaching... I fully believe the coach allowed a personal decision come in between his professional decision.

The off field stuff, if like me and how I am around kids and girls I coach, you let them know any athlete is there for entertainment bit role models. Should they be role models? In a perfect world yes but lots of time athletes are suspect characters.. Not everyone is polamalu, Jeter and those types... I'm able to separate athletes and entertainment from role models... Some can't and that's then the PC police come out in full force with the pitchforks..

I'm not saying its the exact same thing...but it is very similar yet dealt with completely different.

I think the suspension is a joke. I have no problem with what she said. I think she's stupid to say it....I gave the scenario before...if you want Sweden to play that game a different way...gotta change the rules. I'd find it funny for someone to call me a coward for playing winning strategy.

So I don't think she should get suspended for speaking her mind. I just think the way she phrased it made her look like an idiot.

So go ahead and focus on her being a goaltender and ignore her beating up a teenage girl, yep just ignore that. 90 percent of the time I don't give a shit what athletes do off the field, but when you do the things Hope Solo has done then you can't ignore it. If some athlete gets a little out of hand and a party who cares, but Hope Solo is at another level, she's an awful human being.

And I believe, when I was reply to BBC we were speaking clearly about what she said at the World Cup in 2003 and about how the 6 month suspension for calling someone a "coward" was a joke . I'm not sure anywhere in any replies that TD, BBC, or myself wrote did we excuse her for some of those other actions.
