Props on Every State for 2004 Presidential Election!

Betcom.com is very proud to announce that in addition to our the regular line to win the 2004 U.S. Presidential election (Bush -145, Kerry +115), we are the only sportsbook in the world offering odds to win each, and every state in the union.

The various states broke down into four categories. First off, for some of the states it was very easy to determine the lines since they are ?Battleground States?. Iowa for example is a pick -115 either way.

The second category are the ?Battleground States? where there is a clear leader, with a good example being Florida where we have Bush -125, and Kerry -105. Bush has a clear advantage, but Kerry could still win that one.

The third category we saw were the states we felt almost sure one candidate has wrapped up, such as Arizona. We set that line a bit higher using Bush -200, Kerry +170.

Lastly we had the longshot states, which we wrestled with how exactly to book these. Risk management dictates that we can not give away free money on these specific states, so we decided to go with what we in the industry call a ?One-Way line,? meaning we are only taking action from the daring, and upset minded on the underdogs. It?s hard to imagine Bush every losing Texas, or Kerry losing Massachusetts, thus we made those lines +1200 and +1800 respectively.

Big Money on Bush after Debate, though Polls Show Kerry Clear Winner

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica, Oct 15th, 2004 - Betcom.com, a division of Grand Central Sports Gaming Group (GCS), has released updated odds on the US Presidential Election to reflect Wednesday night?s final debate, showing that President Bush still holds a slight lead over Senator John Kerry.

But even though most polls have indicated Senator Kerry clearly won the debate on Wednesday, Betcom.com says that money continues to pour in on President Bush to hold office come November.

?We firmly believe that Kerry won all three debates, strengthening his claim to be ?fit for command? even though we still give Bush a very slight edge in the election overall,? says Mike Nichols, CEO of Betcom, a seven-year-old offshore sports betting company based in San Jose Costa Rica. ?This race is still extremely tight, highly competitive, and could turn on a dime. But oddly, Kerry seems to have little betting momentum.?

Although Bush?s lead declined throughout much of 2004, correlating with day-to-day news events, the economy, the number of soldiers killed in Iraq, and his overall war on terror strategy possibly working against him, Bush has still been taking in most of the money from the betting public.

?We still have Bush as a 50.6% favorite to win this election, even though we have downgraded his lead since the first debate from 51.7%,? says Nichols. ?Surprisingly, Bush took in all the big money bets immediately after each debate. We certainly don?t think Bush?s debate performances warranted such heavy action on him since most national polls showed Kerry as the clear winner. But we have seen nothing but big money coming in on Bush, even from players in states that are predominantly democratic.

?We believe our pro-Kerry and the ?on-the-fence? bettors may have been discouraged in the fact that Kerry never delivered a knock out blow, or a definite plan for the country. And this led our players to put their money where their belief is as to whom will win the election, and not betting with their hearts,? says Nichols, ?This is smart betting.?

Betcom.com is the only offshore sports betting site to have odds posted for each of the 50 states (most other sportsbooks and political pundits have only put odds on the final outcome), allowing its players to bet on each state?s electoral vote outcome.
