Why not trade Yao Ming for Saena Sane or Shawn Bradley now??

Why would you make a draft day deal with Jerry West???

This organization has been bad on draft day for years now and this keeps the trend I guess.

interesting trade if for no other reason than because of the strenghts/weaknesses of the guys involved.

with battier, you know what youre going to get every single night and you know hes never going to get outworked.

... and then with gay, you have no clue what youre getting from night to night, even though hes capable of going for 30 each time on the floor.

That is one of the worst trades ever. We threw in Stromile Swift too.

He has 2 years 11 million left. Battier has 5 years 33 million.

You dont make that deal straight up, much less throw in Rudy Gay.

reminds me of when i was a kid and we used to play fantasy baseball, after about a year or so, no one would make deals with a couple of us because they always got ripped off

after about 30 years of superlative dealmaking, why would anyone make a draft day deal with Jerry West and give him a guy like Rudy Gay for a role player?

I think if Battier was that good ........Memphis would have had at least 1 win in the playoffs the last couple of years..........

Whats really comical is that the rockets could have probably packaged a deal BEFORE the draft and have gotten Battier.......then kept Battier and the pick........just stupid whats these guys are thinking.........and especially trading Rudy Gay......who could have easily been the 1st player taken......

Im not sure what to think about this. You have a potential tracy mcgrady scoring player, but he isnt clutch and gets very nervous. I honestly dont want a guy like that on my team. Battier is a consistant 10 point/game player with that plays good defense. I think the consistancy will help, but they need another scorer.

I might be wrong but ithink Van Gundy and the Rockets Org had a brain fart..... this team almost could not crack 70 pts once Mcgrady went down then you trade away a guy that might be a potential 20pt scorer in this league to a division rival then just to add more spice include your former "big" free agent signee(Swift) back to his old team just for good measure :mj07: :142smilie

Better hope Mcgrady's back is all healed up cos if he goes down again :sadwave: to the season!!
