"the bunker"
from what i`ve seen, better than joel julio.....maybe alot better.....

interesting fight from several different standpoints.....berto`s making it look pretty easy up till now...this is a definite step up,though.....

rivera`s a tough guy....he comes to win..and occasionally upsets the applecart......not to mention that he has a major league height and reach advantage....

the problem is he`s slow and tends to take alot of punishment......

oly has under/over 8.5 at -110...5 dimes has it at 9.5(ov +165...un-190)....interesting numbers....a bit of divergence there...

i`m a little curious about this one....

Berto is the real deal!

Berto is the real deal!

I have been watching this kid since the olympics, and I think this fight is over before round 4. Berto looks to punish with his speed and combinations. He never takes a round off because each round he is looking to break down his opponent. I know Rivera is crafty, durable, and has a good left hook to the body but if he tries to pressure Berto instead of counter-punch, it will be lights out similar to the Judah V. Rivera fight.

Berto Under 7.5 -110 is a solid play @5dimes and The oly Under 8.5 -110 that you found is even better.

Good Luck,
Matt

So much for my KO prediction

So much for my KO prediction

I really was expecting a KO by Berto here. In contrast, Berto didn't start using his jab until round four and Rivera was very defensive until the end of the 6th round when he landed a perfect southpaw left uppercut on the lethargic Berto. I can't blame Berto for getting caught though because he really didn't see anything offensive from Rivera up to that point. From the seven round on, the fight went the way I expected the whole fight to go with both guys toe-to-toe. Berto had never went past 7 rounds and I think he took the 9th round off from fatigue, but to his credit he still went for the KO in round ten after having the fight won. In the end, Berto's lack of focus and technique and Rivera's footwork cost Berto a stoppage, but Berto's handspeed and workrate won him the fight. Berto is a fun guy to watch and you have to admire Rivera veteran perseverance.

teddy atlas looks like a retard but his comments were right one the money over anxious no jab head hunting no body shots.
Berto has a smart corner thats for sure, that glove stuff was pretty slick.
Very good fight for Berto like the torres fight for cotto thats the way you get better not with knocking out another 20 reality tv guys.
Hopefully the odds come down on him in the future.

Slick....? I thought it was cheating bullshite. I think Berto was very lucky that the knockdown came at the very end of the round because he was hurt, and then the glove change between rounds giving him an extra minute or so to recover- cheatmasters.

i have to agree...i think this crap is over the top.....it goes farther than mere gamesmanship......

you can make a legit argument that it`s potentially changing the outcome of fights.....

it galls me that a guy can gain an advantage due to his own hard labor in the ring.......and have it all erased by some sleazeball stunt like spitting a mouthpiece or slashing a glove.....

this is why i threw such a hissy fit about corrales/castillo 1......

Semantics.
