I have about 2000 sq ft of St. Augustine grass in the back yard and have decided to let them go until next year. My dumb ass had a 30-year old ash tree removed at the end of last summer, so there is absolutely no shade for the grass now. The extreme heat in this area is too much for St. Augustine grass without shades. I have been watering up to 3 hours a day just to keep them green. Enough is enough...

CryBoy are you not on water restrictions? I live in Plano, I can water on Thurs. It kills me because if I'm out of town or forget........ well lets just say I said screw it and let my grass go. The foundation companies are going to make a killing off of this once we do get rain.

Only restriction is no automatic sprinklers between 10:00 A.M. - 6:00 P.M. in Arlington. You're right about the foundation companies. You can literally see the cracks in the yards around the neighborhood.
