I personally am not a real big fan of Jim Rome, I think he is repetative and not very original. The guy beats a subject to death and is wish washy.

Hoyt,

I thought that this was going to be a thread about 'clone-bettors' that blindly follow what they perceive to be 'steam'. Oh well.

Anyway, I agree with you about Rome.

It took me about 2 weeks to get use to him like he says, and then about another 2 weeks to get sick of him. Are you as much of a pleasure to be around in person as you are on this forum, kosar? Just curious if it is possible for you write anything that is not in some way a veiled knock on someone else? If you have to do that so be it. I just hope it makes you feel better.

Subagoto,

I'm very sorry that I don't meet your expectations as a poster, but I see that you have at least been paying attention. That's a start.

It shows you having 173 posts at MJ's. Did you transfer those from somewhere else, or have you actually made that many posts here since June? I must have missed them all.

I know that it's much more fun to have a daily warm and fuzzy circle jerk with other like-minded 'cappers', than to hear a dissenting opinion. That's too bad.

I shudder when I think of the countless lurkers-surely many of those being novices- that are subjected to the unmitigated nonsense that is sometimes proferred here.

Trust me when I tell you that I only post about 5% of the time that I actually feel like it. So *that* should at least provide you with *some* solace.

What many people don't understand is that just because somebody disagrees with something, it is not personal. Too many people take it like that, and it's just not the case.

Tell ya what, i'll keep trying to help people save themselves a lot of grief, and you keep doing whatever it is that you've been doing for the last 2 months. Deal?

BTW- i'm even more charming in person.

I suppose there is a fine line between intent and perception when it comes to written communication. It is a noble service that you so willingly provide. Thank you for answering my questions.

Rome is overhyped and bigger than he deserves to be. I found him funny when I used to listen to him on Xtra in SD.

I still listen to him on Xtra 690 for about 1 min, that's all it takes. What a jerk and hoyt is right if he didn't keep repeating a topic over and over his show would only be 45 min long instead of 3 hours.

Tell me why do all those athletes come on his show and kiss is ass for some "karma"?
I'd like to give him some karma right off the air.

Rome was great on XTRA and early days in syndication. But he has become boring in some spots and annoying because he is his own biggest fan. He is also way off target on some sports and issues where his knowledge is lacking. All that said, he is still better than any other sports talk show on radio. I can't think of anyone better, despite the aggravation of hearing him repeat the same thing 3 times - and his self-worship.

not that kosar needs anyone to take his side,if you ever spent sometime with him you would find out he is a very good person who knows way more then you all would belive.
i have spent time with him a couple times and he really is fun and a great guy,he is a friend and someone that just likes to make sure someone doesnot get misled by certain things,i learned how to not take everything said towards me as personal somethings i still do but for the most part i try to think before i stick my foot in my mouth.
i also get a kick out of rome but then again i like howard

personally, i love the jim rome show. he is real and in your face, he doesnt sugar coat anything and tells it like it is, like charles barkley, charles oaklay, well you get my point. there needs to be more people like him b/c we live in a society where we try to hide things and beat around the bush, etc, and all that happy feelings and phony touchy feely crap. Rome tells it how it should be told, baseball players ARE on steroids, NBA games ARE fixed...allegedly
smile.gif

Softball players suck....BMW Z-3 drivers think they are cool, but they are idiots thinking they are James Bond.......some of the many topics Rome talks about on his show.
