How many posters on the boards are actually in the red overall?

Just curious, serious question. Been browsing the site off and on the past several years and haven't kept up with everyone and their record, but for the posters that I have followed and/or kept track of, it seems there are many, many posters who profit year after year after year. Before finding this site, I would have thought it would have been impossible to accomplish this. How many of you are actually down or in the red? I'm not talking about the week or season, but overall lifetime since the first time you made a bet.

George Burns (of George Burns and Gracie Allen, he played God one time in a movie) once said,

"My first bet was for $5 and I must have spent a million $$$ since trying to get it back."

Virtually no responses. That just proves my point that this site is a sportsbook's worst nightmare! Theoretically if everyone followed the cappers on this site (and completely stopped playing their own picks), Vegas, offshore books and local bookies would get demolished! Can you imagine well known high rollers like Jordan and Barkley following plays on this site?? Blows my mind to think what would happen if every bettor knew about this site....

the problem is that most gamblers dont want to just follow a good capper, play a few straight wagers every sunday and profit a little every season. where's the fun in that? most of us love action, will bet too much per play and chase losses. that's just the nature of a gambler.

the problem will never be picking winners against the spread, it's everything else that hurts us players.

It takes a few years for your average gambler to profit, not because you cant pick winners but because the money management skills are not there. Wagering on sports is more about learning what works best for you. I used to straight bet one strict amount on every game. It wasnt until I started betting more on plays I loved and less on plays I just liked til I became succesful at this.

Ill play an occasional parlay or teaser but 80% of my wagers are straight wagers. Parlays and teasers are usually no more than 2 or 3 teams.

There are some pretty sharp guys on this site. Everyone gets hot and cold though. But there are a few who seem to always grind out a profit.

Lifetime I am down but always learning.

Most of us, are not dependent on sports gambling to provide us a living. We are, to varying degrees doing this for fun and excitement. So following, even the most successful poster, would get pretty dull after a while. We spend time gathering info, injuries, weather, in fighting etc., to find games where we think theres an edge.

By thursday I have an idea of who I'm going to bet on. I'll then look at a few guys I trust,, and then adjust the amount I'm betting. If they are all on the other side <shudder> I may drop a game.

Last night was a great example of fun and excitement. All of us who had Det -5 or -6 were watching Chi's final drive with great interest. A drive that had almost no bearing on W or L of the game, especially as time ran out.

Hard to put a dollar amount on that kind of fun.

So true about the love of the action killing us. Have tried to and been sucessful in limiting my plays and in the black for now.

LIFETIME, I am up $$$, how much?, no I cannot tell you, but had some VERY STRONG seasons, and several very poor ones. I seriously wish I had kept track because this takes an emotional toll, and I am not sure I am up enough to pay that toll. I am talking time and stress, time spent working numbers, tendacies (sic), weather, injuries, etc.

I can tell what sports I have a positive expectation on and what segments of seasons, or angles within a sport I am strong vs weak at.

NBA, other than other than total middle shots, I suck!

CFB good for much of the season, but strongest generally very early then in the bowls. CFB totals, follow Hawkeye, not sure how anyone could improve on his stuff, to the betterment of return for time spent.

NFL have had some great seasons, some poor ones.

MLB, love the sport and the opportunities, hate the duration of the grind, find I do best if I take a couple of breaks. I used to really clean up playing the overs in the right situation, but times have changed.

BIGGEST obstacle I beleive was discipline and money management.

One week many years ago, I got up big to an local OUTLAW, early in the week in MLB hitting some nice dog solo plays, so I stop for the rest of the week, to be able to COLLECT ALL of it the following settle up day.

MAN was he MAD when we met, that taught me the object was to collect/ turn a profit, and blowing your brains out with action does not insure that. Eric (fletcher) was a master at understanding that also!

when i was 19, i had to take out a loan to pay a local guy....(my buddy took it out with me. we lied like shit to citi financial to qualify  ...told em it was for a hunting trip)

not sure what i was thinking gambling with funds i did not have

didnt wager again with large amounts until i was 23 and financially stable outta college with a steady career....i played highschool and college football, so i felt like i knew everything there was too know and couldnt lose i suppose when i lost that money...rought time i know that....

took 4 years to pay that loan back...

since I have started wagering again with slightly larger amounts of money over the past 3 years, i have been fortunate to finish slightly up each year in earnings. ( I am only 26, i am the baby of the site)

if i took all the years i have done it, including that terrible year in which i had to borrow money, i am not sure if i would be up or down. what i do know, is that this is much more stressful of a hobby then fishing and hunting.....but i wouldnt have it any other way....

This is exactly what I'm talking about. Vegas/bookies must love stubborn gamblers like this. It just blows my mind how many successful cappers there are on this site. Before finding this site I didn't think it was possible to profit year after year (you could literally do this for a living if you upped the units per play). It seems most cappers here are better than any scamdicapper out there and unlike scamdicappers, the plays here are all free!! If the typical sportsbettor swallowed his pride and strictly followed only the cappers on this site and not their own plays, every casino, offshore book, local would be in serious trouble.
