---and how can commentators keep saying how great they played and make excuses for them.
I am speaking of women playing in mens events. I think after this year they might set realistic goals. Rather than making a cut they should set next years goal of just one of them shooting an even par rd collectively.
Wei continued to show why they are not competative in male events managing to beat only 3 players in 156 player field in 1st rd of yesterdays Nationwide event.

you would think when Annika has near perfect rd missing only one fairway and 4 greens and fails to break par and beats only 11 men in entire field they could take a hint
Maybe they like punishment but would opt that it is limelight.
No dis to Whaley who "earned" a spot despite tee adv in qualifying.

DTB...I'm getting seriously worried about you!!

How can you class Michelle Wie as a woman??? She is a girl...you should be complaining about the Nationwide allowing children to play, not women!

I'm looking forward to seeing how Laura Davies does against John Daly in Korea...will be a big draw for the crowds...the sponsors and organisers must love this stuff. Rachel Teske playing on Aus PGA over the winter will be a big deal too.

The novelty will soon wear off, but I don;t think it does any harm every so often...local players playing in their local event...the same way that events sometimes offer sponsor exemps to nearby alumni etc. In Europe Ivan Lendl got into Czech Open a few years ago.

On the European Senior tour this year, former World F1 Champ Nigel Mansell was so keen to get a start in an event that he sponsored the event himself and gave himself an exemption! Not much diff to the very few female appearances on various tours this year.

:) I thought I'd get reaction from you my friend. I was just getting bored and thought I'd comment on something. I think Martha Burke got me started and she was the biggest flop of the year.

I believe Diaz and Annika had a little riff in the cup recently on comment Diaz made in sports magazine bout Annika playing in Colonial. She stated Annika played for selfish reasons.Which is to my thinking also. I will see if I can locate article. Thought this was one ofbest articles I saw on cup.

Personally I Love the LPGA as you know but they need to stay in there own league where they are competative. I really like Wie and to my thinking playing with the boys is not helping her confidence any. I can not think of any reason for them to play other than publicity as there is no way they can compete.

Good link, DTB.

Commentators over here brought up fact that Stanford commented negatively on Annika at Colonial, before their singles game!

As far as I'm aware, Michelle Wie is not a member of the LPGA. If you asked her which tour she would like to be a member of, I expect she would say the PGA Tour!

I think she would like to play pga also Clive and if anyone had the make up for it ,it would be her.--but thats a big if.

I quess what gets my goat is the hype by press and others on the girls playing in mens events. They get more coverage and reading the press articles you'd think they were they played competatively if you failed to look at the bottom line.

Example: from the press this week ie "the hype"

Michelle Wie wants another shot at playing with the boys.
"I think I'll make the cut next time," Wie said.

Wie, who missed the cut in a Canadian Tour event last month, said she'd like another shot at playing in a men's tournament. She also said she'd accept another "sponsor's exemption" to play in Boise next fall.

Wie had better command of her tee shots Friday and although her putting remained erratic, she was even par over the last eight holes and gave the large gallery that followed her both days plenty to cheer about.

She kept up with playing partners Kevin Burton and Joseph Summerhays, even having the low score on a couple of holes on the final nine.

"Today she hit the ball like a PGA player," said B.J. Wie, her father and caddie in the tournament.

"I think I improved a lot from yesterday and I'm pretty happy," she said. "I always want to win the week I'm playing and I think my game improved a lot this week. If my putts start rolling in, than I'm going to shoot a lot under par."

"Women are getting a lot stronger and people are evolving," Wie said

One would think from above she hung right in there with the boys.
now the truth and reality of the matter.
She beat one player finishing 151st shooting 12 over in 2 days and 21 shots off the lead.
