My books sell points BY the half-point...
a -110 line goes up an extra 10 points for each half point
bought...FOR the first 2 1/2 points. After that it goes up 20
points for the next several half-points. Beyond that I think it becomes even more expensive, but I have never bought more than a few points (e.g. I bought the Colts down to a -10 on Sunday (from -11 1/2), which made the line -140.

BUY LINE
-------------------
0 -110
.5 -120
1 -130
1.5 -140
2 -150
2.5 -160
3 -180
3.5 -200
4 -220
etc.

I find myself buying many half-points lately, but
buying 5 would be pretty darn expensive.

Happy Hunting.

(Thanks again for the great site, Jack. I'm still around, just trying to juggle the mania involved in being an academic with all these dang SPORTING events there to distract me. Thanks for not zapping my userage...I like the changes you've made here...keep up the good work.)

Actually I'm examing the value content of this Canadian lotto thing.

Often, their basketball totals are off by 5 points or so.. But you must do 2 team parlays and you pay $200 for a potential payout of $300 profit.

Very tough to find any value with SportSelect. They occasionally screw up their numbers on totals, or flip-flop the faves on fairly close games, but I haven't seen anything very enticing the last few times I've checked a sheet.

If you haven't already, do yourself a BEEG favour and open up an off-shore account. I've dealt with 5 and have had only a few minor problems--no scammage or anything. Stuck with a couple that I liked, and now we have a good business arrangement...so to speak. The transferring of funds is a piece of cake, especially by credit card and Western Union.

Check out some of them and compare the lines with the SportSelect sheets. SpS has -140 faves (for example) generally listed at 1.5. That's the equivalent of a -200 line...50 cents on the dollar (-125 should be 1.8). Also notice the totals paying 1.6 to 1.8, which is app. -167 (!) to -125 respectively, when totals should be paying at the -110 line, which is app. 1.909090909...

...app?

Gots lots more criticisms of sportselect (not to mention the parlay nightmare) but I'll have to save it for now.
I will admit that there is a slight chance that you can catch a MAJOR mistake--I know of several BEEG blunders that they've made in their history--but I'm pretty sure they watch themselves pretty closely now. I tried to make sure and pick up a sheet every week...just to check for any errorage...but I saw nothing for so long that I've stopped wasting my time.

It's enough work trying to find some valu$ in the games themselves--with realistic lines.

Post any blunders if you catch 'em...
...lots o canucks here at MJ's.

Did I say cAnucks?....oops...

I meant Maple Leafs!

I'm under the Atlantic Lotto Corp, so we have a different format than you. Until recenty we had to select 3 gamers and the hockey is visitor/tie/home, NBA teams are are -5.5, NFL teams are always -3.5, I realize there is no value in that.

Where I saw value was this new over/under sportsselect has out here now. You can select from 2 to 10 games.

Last night there were two basketball games that the total was 5 points off, the TOR/DAL was at 190.5 and offshores were at 195.5 and the miami game was at 170.5 while alot of offshores were at 165.5... So thats where I saw the value.
