Your IP address is the address that responses you send come back to, like a mailing address. You can get software to spoof a fake IP address from where your messages are coming from but with the right technology it is easy to figure out. Like putting a camera at your PO Box address, a little harder to prove but possible. How do you think the government catches the people that make computer viruses?
