Anyone else who never had the vaccine before all of a sudden want one?

I find myself wanting one this year and I think it is because of the shortage. Shows you the selfishness that is inside I guess. Granted, I am in that category of "health care worker" and thus entitled to one.

However, I am not gonna get one because of the shortage but find it funny how something inside me wants one badly this year. Kind of like getting in line for ice cream before all the greedy people do lol.

Maybe this is a little psychoanalytic and I am sure there are folks who will ridicule this post but hey I am just being honest.

I would say being in health care you should have it more then our members of congress. They didn't forget theres. You are in a higher risk job unless you don't deal with patients. Those that I feel sorry for are stuck in nursing homes. The flu always has away of hitting them hard. It sounds like many will have to go with out till next supply in January. We need to hope the flu is light this year and comes late. I wonder if folks understand how many die each year from the flu. Or complication from it.

What exactly do these flu shots do? In college we always got them for free, but I never wanted to stand in line, so I never did. And to this day I've never had one, but kind of like what you said, there's been so much coverage on the shortage, it's making me wonder what I'm missing. I can't recall having got the flu in recent years, so I guess I don't see a reason to get the shot.

Never had one--have known too many to become more ill from shots than flu. If a real hybred and lethal strain developed I would say I'd change my tune.
