I'm been making a decent comeback from my worst golf season ever with my best football season ever.

It will be a good feeling after this week to only be two units or so down for the golf season. Onward.

Kyle Stanley(50/1) e.w.
- - I'm fairly confident he will have been working hard on his game at some point during December, even more so given a change in equipment sponsor, and he's coming to a ginormous venue that could suit, although previous course form generally counts for a lot among winners of this event.

Dustin Johnson(12/1) e.w.
- - Ticks boxes in addition to already claiming my own high regard for his current and future stature.

Cheers! :toast:

I've been lurking on this message board for years, but rarely post.
I most gamble on the NFL, but I dabble here and there on golf wagers.
A player that I really like coming into 2013 is Scott Piercy. He finished 2012 very strongly.

1st Round:
Piercy -105 over Pettersson

Outright to Win Tournament:
Piercy +2373 (Pinnacle)

Not my favorite tournament, but it's a start.
Mick and Tiger never enter this deal. It appears they have no respect for the PGA.

First tournament of the year, first winner---
Wagner to win 80-1
This is a value play, no way Wagner should be 80 or higher to 1, he's coming on big, and coming on bigger each year.

72 holes--I also have
Piercy over Moore +115 5D
Piercy is going to be a big money maker all year, might as well jump on him at the start.

Good luck in 2013 everyone :D

Round 1 play (2pts):

Carl Pettersson to beat Scott Piercy -104 @ Pinnacle [available generally]
A cautious opening to the season given the weather forecast, so just one pick at low stakes. If there is one player in this field who should be sturdy in the wind, it is the Swede. But more than that, he is making his fifth appearance at the Plantation course and on his last visit (2011), he led after the opening round before finishing 4th. He was also in good form before the Christmas break, finishing 7th and 4th in December, which should be far easier to carry over to this week than Piercy's form - he last played in an event nine weeks ago. Such Tour rustiness can be a factor at the start of the season after such a long layoff and that might explain why he has never secured a top-10 finish in January; Pettersson has done so in each of the last three years in Hawaii alone.

Adding . . .

Rickie Fowler(25/1) e.w.
- - (a) In my book, his chances are best when shotmaking is at a premium, in windy conditions, at tough venues, in elite fields, and/or on florida grasses; (b) His career stature should be trending up and he should be building on his resume about now, which suggests some pretty decent work in December; and (3) Now with the grind of starting off with a 36 hole slog up, down and across Kapalua, there is some advantage for youth and being in playing shape.

@bubbawatson

I say let us play golf in the wind, better for tv. Golf balls blowing around on the greens will get the viewers & ratings for tv!
