Tuesday, I was using a pushmower to cut on a hill when I ran over a nest of yellow jackets that lived in the ground. 1 of the little fockers got me on the ankle. I smacked it off ( the bee smartass ) then I finished mowing. Next, I went in and did the dishes and fixed some lunch.
About 45 minutes had passed when my toes started itching, then my feet, arms legs, head....everywhere! I could feel my face swelling up so I looked in the mirror to find that it was as red as a firetruck and swelling non stop. I told my sis-in-law ( babysitter) that I might go to the ER. She took one look at me and said "holy shat!" I looked back in the mirror and didn't recognize my face. In a matter of 60 secs. I was covered in hives and still swelling up.
I jumped into the truck and flew to the ER, my face still swelling. As I pulled into the ER, I could feel my throat starting to swell shut. The second I opened the ER door, A nurse looked up at me and said "this man needs a doctor". I was barely able to speak, but managed to utter the words "I've been stung".
They took me right in and gave me a shot of something in the ass and said that it would take effect in 2-3 minutes. Well, it didn't! They then put me on a heart moniter, swabbed my arm with alcohol and injected me with adrenalin. My pulse was off the charts but in a matter of seconds, the adrenalin took effect and I finally felt some relief. After another shot of adrenalin, I was slowly getting back to normal. They monitered me for about 1 1/2 then released me.
They said that much longer of a wait and it would have been life threatening.
So, I am now allergic to bee stings. I gotta go to my doc today and get that focking bee kit to carry around in case I ever get stung...I have to give myself a shot.
