yeah you shouldn't be.......Texas shooting isn't as good as it has been either.......Mouton & Ivey have to shoot for them.......

OU is just nails on defense.....very scrappy, quick, and what I really think they excel at is quick jumping.....very explosive on the glass.....gonna be a tough out come NCAA time.....

Freeze we agree again LOL

Freeze we agree again LOL

OU is quick and can jump...not just their initial jump but R quick to go up again ..as in for rebounds, tip balls....I cant see Texas giving OU any trouble...this OU tm is outstanding ...they play good "D"...cutting off baselines...they dont reach....they R quick to double Tm and fill the passing lanes...I was impressed tonight...Short and sweet but just my view

Well You knew this was coming......

Well You knew this was coming......

Let me see if I understand you....

Tech loses their 2nd game of the season to Oklahoma and you come in here spouting how much they suck. The almighty Texas is about to play Oklahoma and all of a sudden its "I'm not looking forward to playing them, they're so GOOD.

Well if that aint the cats meow! (I don't know where the hell that came from)

If Techs loses, they suck.

If Texas loses, the other team is soo good. (I realize they havn't loss yet, but You are in here setting up the excuses)

Gimmie a break.

I see the match up isn't until Feb. 2nd, by then Tech will have split out with them as we play em again this weekend!!

RR

PS Depsite you Burnt orange complexion, I have to give you major props for that "what they look like thread".....phucking halarious!!!

I went to the game last night and this is by far the best OU team since 1988. But, that being said this team still has some weaknesses that were exposed by Kansas and a constant problem that will haunt them in March.

As for their weakness, they have no true offensive structure. If this team is slowed down into a halfcourt game (which is what KU did) they have a hard time getting good looks at the basket and are forced to take difficult shots or have the point guard drive the bucket and hopefully get fouled. The team thrives off its defense and must create turnovers and get into a quick paced game to score in the 80's.

Secondly, as has happened every year under Kelvin, he wears his teams out. By the time the team gets to the tournament they are often banged up and out of gas. Last year is a perfect example. They won the big 12 tourney then got to the NCAA and ran out of gas in the second half and lost a 12 point lead to Indiana St. We habve been to the tournament seven straight years but have only won 3 games.

Like I said, this is the best OU team in a while. Kelvin has three legitimate, if not four, scorers and this team will go as far as their defense will take them.

HMMMMMMM.........

HMMMMMMM.........

Well I have to disagree with Felonious here......I am looking forward to playing OU as our measuring stick on how good our team really is......Stoops you hit the nail on the head...Texas WILL make this a half-court game....If everyone here is going by what OU did to Mizzou last night your all wrong....your talking about a MIZZOU team that is totally LOST this yr....as Freeze pointed out they have no point guard....TX does and a very good one at that......TX has depth on the bench....Mizzou DOESNT.......This is going to be a very good game with a lot of good match-ups....TX is a defensive minded team...MIZZOU NOT!!!!!!....Barnes will have these guys ready...nothing and I mean nothing rattles TJ FORD....if you haven't seen this youngster play maybe its time you do....He is awesome!!!!!! HOOK'EM

hey Bob......welcome to the forum......I didn't know you were a gambler........

You are gonna have to let us know who you are on next year in your games. I am still a little upset though that you didn't cover against Arky. You need to have a better quarterback than that.

Anyways, thanks for not going to FLorida. And lets go get em next year huh......

Red Raider (& others),

Chill! I was only giving OU some props....but you know what? I'm taking back what I said....I'm ready to kick some Sooner ass!

I believe that OU's size is their only weakness. They have two very good collegiate post defenders in Jabahri Brown and McGhee. McGhee can score some. Brown is more of an extremely quick defender who scores on garbage points, but mostly disrupts with his quickness. They have nobody else who even closely approximates those two players on the blocks.

Their main strength has to be their multitude of wings and backcourt players. Ere, Price, and White are all extremely quick, who are great at both defending their man and anticipating/jumping into passing lanes, helping out, and making up for any mistakes on defense. All of their players look like gazelles running the court with hungry cheetahs chasing behind. Selby is great off the bench. They work their butt off chasing every loose ball and every rebound.

If Texas can trade fouls in the post with Brown and McGhee, Texas will be in great shape.

Texas is deeper at every position, however, OU is one of the few teams with more quickness than Texas at nearly every position on the floor other than point guard, and it's not like they're slow there.

One guy I can just about guarantee will get into foul trouble quickly is Brian Boddicker. This is a game where he will matchup poorly defensively.

We play defense a lot better than Missouri. Only time will tell if we can go toe to toe with them and shut down their perimeter game the way Missouri did not.

OU is a fucking good team though. They are kind of a bargain basement version of the great UNLV teams of the early 90s. Everyone can run, jump, shoot, and play D. They are deep, they play hard, and they play together. Great coaching job by Sampson and his staff, just as Tark did a great coaching job with his squads.

Our transition D will need to be on its toes. They use lineups where any of the 5 guys they have on the floor will pull up and burn a 23 footer in transition.

Putting pressure on Hollis Price will be the key. I'm not sure they really have anyone else who can orchestrate their offense. Fredie Williams has got quite a challenge ahead of him. i dont think TJ can do it on a regular basis with his defense (and ankle) where it is right now.

It's going to be interesting.

Thanks for the kind words Dr. Freeze. We may not have covered on Ark., but the Under was the bowl lock of the year.

I appreciate all your insight into the Big 12. I think the best thing about this board is that everyone is from all over and are usually very well knowledged about their conference. I will start adding my two cents on the Big 12. It is in my opinion one of the biggest home court advantage conferences in the country.

As i said in another thread, Carib has OU at 50:1 to win the tournament.

Ain't looking for 'em to win it, but some nice chances to fade 'em late if they go deep.

If the futures page ever gets caught up over there, I think this will drop, esp. if they beat TT and OSU in the next week.

That can't be right

That can't be right

50:1?!? Are you referring to the Big 12 Tourney or the whole enchilada? Must be the latter.

They're the best team in the Big 12 and I can argue that.
