I have been here for 2 years and this is why I never post I read all the post tonight and was totally convinced that Wisconsin was giving to many points Down 3000 to the man I cant afford to pay anyway I went with all the info on this game and made a play to get even Now we know it did not happen, I probably will only be alive through this weekend as he has already threatened me once and roughed me up pretty good to but now I am sure it is over with. Any people in this forum that think this is a good way of life need to think again I was already not eating or sleeping now I am thinking of committing a felony to get out of this mess, I am 38 yrs old and I wont run from the man I have no resources available to me and crime seems to be the answer to me I have been thinking of all other solutions and there are none. I will never place another wager again these places are there because of people like me and now I am out.

Sorry to hear of your situation, got to be a small office for a guy to risk an extortion beef with a scared client w/a relatively small balance. Risk isn't worth the reward, only suggestion is to follow you're own advice put the brakes on, be honest with your office.
Believe me you are not the 1st guy they have take a shot with the chips down and blow. I don't know you're history with yopu're office and this isn't certainly the place to give out too many details. If you have been a good client up to this recent spell or have been donating on a regular basis they should be amenable to payment schedule. On the other hand if this is a regular m.o., probably will bust you're balls (deservedly so) and still take what you can give them. The risk isn't worth the reward for 6g's w/an established office. Most importantly committing a felony which will cost you you're freedom is def. not worth the 6g's. No offense, be a man make the call, don't compound it by trying to be coy or keep taking shots. No office wants to play pitch to win with their customers. You might even be able to knock it down if you can come up with a respectable amount along the way. Good Luck, Keep You're head up. Please don't take offense.

man, thats a scary tale right there

man, thats a scary tale right there

good advice raz

my 2 cents to others with no self control: never use a bookie, only use off shore, the reasons are obvious ... the Monopoly money doesnt seem real when you are down or up with a book ... the only time i got way down in my life to a book was when i was 22, and tried doubling up a couple times, paid him $1500 and never got in trouble again ...

gl, gregg

be a man, own up, all the guy wants is his $$, cut a payment schedule

On the course!
I hope you are not serious!

You can work this out, I am sure. Gambling is never a solution to your gambling problem. Tell the guy you fked up, and pay him what you can.

Guys I dont even know how to say this I am a chef at a country club but I am layed off for the winter months I make more money by collecting unemployment believe it or not but three weeks ago I was taken to court by DSS here in NY and they are garnishing all but 124 bucks a week for the birth of my son 5 years ago. Now I have all the paperwork and all that but you dont take that stuff to your bookie. I am going to try and work it out but even if I was to gain a regular job until this is worked out that is all theyu will give me. And yes I am serious I cannot find a loan out here anyplace and the guy has told me he would accept 1000 and spread my name around so I would not be able to bet anyplace in this town I am in trouble and I have no way out. I have done all the talking that this guy will do I have to get money

jcjrbowl,
Am sorry to read about your predicament. But 1st committing a felony ain't doing you anything.
That is not a solution. You right now need some guidance. Some kind of "plan" to figure out"what your doing" and where are you going".

Have madjack give you my e-mail.I know a priest in the Cuse area.He might be able to help you in someway.I'm not talking "spirtual" although we all need more of that.
You got a lot of things on your plate. You need help. There are a lot of places and people out there. There is no magic wand to make everything better.
But right now you need to talk to someone....e-mail me.Hopefully I can connect you with someone...

I am not in here whining guys I am just telling a story that could help some people. I am a compulsive gambler and I am in trouble I am looking for someone else to help. This can happen to anyone in here and maybe I will reach someone that it has happened to and get some positive things and dont worry guys Doubling down is not one of my options, thanks for all the comments.

jc:

Not much to say, but I'm sure that most here wish you the best. It is honorable of you to share your story to keep others out of the same situation in the future. Obviously, the key is to stay ahead of the game and not get in the hole, where you're doing weird stuff that you referenced just to get even.

Best of luck w/ your problems. The logical thing I'd say is that your book is essentially a businessman. I would think he'd go for some sort of payment plan. Some $ next week is better than no $ today. Just my thoughts.

Try to set something up where you can pay something every week. That will get him off your back. Look for something long term. Gambling is not a life, it's mainly for recreation. Get it straighted out my friend.

You've definitely received some good advice from the folks on this board. As someone mentioned, your guy is still a business man. Scrape up what you can and give him something as a gesture of good faith and then tell him you will make good and pay him weekly. If the guy has half a brain, he'll accept your proposal. Don't resort to crime as an answer to your problems. It's not worth it. You seem smart enough to do more with your life than that. I wish you the best and hope it works out for you.

One thing you guys have got to remember...in this post, the bookie is made out to be a monster thug...well, if he is just a small time book..he probably is calling them off to a bigger book and just pocketing the juice..

Well, this guy is eating jc's losses...somebody has to cover the 6 grand? I guess its the bookie's fault to give jcjrbowl a credit line.

Unfortunate situation.

Good luck to you JC, hope things are going better for you. Don't let it get you down as I've been there myself years ago - down alot of $$$ (except mine was on credit card). Just have to say no more (if that is what you want to do) and figure out how to pay it off and put behind you. Not trying to lecture, but you must have a set bankroll for sports gambling that won't hurt you if its gone. Keep your head up and keep pushing on - every day is a new one.
