Putting our opinions aside for one moment, answer this question: Given the reality of the Electoral College system, which state do you think Hillary Clinton could carry in 2008 that John Kerry failed to carry in 2004?

Texas? No way. Hillary could carry what Slick carried. Arkansas, Ohio, and a couple others.

...but she may not get those anyway. it all depends on what happens the next few years. If things go well in Iraq and the deficit doesn't bury us the the Dems may not have a chance.

AND I HOPE THATS THE CASE! cuz that means things are going well.

"the bunker"
has anyone listened to hil of late?.....she`s sounding more and more like joe lieberman......

she`s becoming a moderate liberal(if there is such a thing)...

get used to it...hill WILL be the democratic nominee for president in 2008.......she`s already positioning herself with her swing toward the middle....

and can you say,"vice president barak obama?"....actually,i`d think someone very respected like evan bayh might be the smarter choice...

look for a new regime in 2008..that`s my gut.....the republicans will have a very hard time defeating this ticket.....

mccain and rudy?.....they might have a shot...

No woman will be the president for at least another 16 years. The country hasn't the balls yet.

I disagree. I think we are just about primed for someone like Hillary. If the country stays divided, the chances are better and better. People won't switch votes because of gender.

I love the line from one Republican about Mrs. Clinton running. He said something about Ms. Rice being the only Republican candidate who could beat her (PLEASE run Guiliani, you clowns). His words were something to the effect of, "Condi Rice is the one candidate who could reach traditionally democratic bases." READ: Condi Rice is black and a women so maybe she can get sympathy votes from blacks and women. The few black people I know can't stand Ms. Rice but I believe it is true that when the chips are down, black people tend to vote along racial lines more than other races.

That's interesting Nick - I work on Wall Street for Citigroup, and the few blacks I know admire Rice tremendously. I guess it just depends on who you know.

Rice would crush any Dem they put up, without exception.

hilliary clinton will never be president.....her negatives are high......& if people don't like you ...you can't be president...

mccain & rudy are my two favorite politicians....but i'm afraid they won't get the rep. nomination.

a sleeper for the republican party is george allen......ex-senator & now governor of virginia.

I dislike corruption, hypocrisy and intolerance in my politicians, so I have an extremenly low opinion of Guiliani and McCain. McCain especially. That guy is slime if you ask me because of the way he tried to destroy UFC at the behest of the boxing lobby in the 90's.

In my view any woman is going to have a hard time winning because they'll lose a lot of afternoon campaign time watching Oprah.

"Rice would crush any Dem they put up, without exception."

Please tell me you are kidding. Do you honestly believe the gun-toting, nascar-watching, rebel flag-waving good ol' boys in the South would vote for ANY woman, much less a BLACK woman? If Rice actually ran for president, Pat Buchanan would jump in and grab those votes.

Personally, I am hoping that John McCain runs in '08. This country is being torn apart by divisive politics, and we need somebody towards the middle to bring us back together. And that somebody needs to be a Republican right now, because more Dems will vote for the right man for the job, even if he is a Republican, whereas most Republicans refuse to believe ANY Dem could possibly be worthy of their vote. We need a moderate Republican, and John McCain is the man for the job. I just hope he still wants it in 4 years.

Nick:

Concerning your remark about the Republican party nominating Candy Rice as their presidential nominee in 2008, I believe the behind the scenes position of that party would be (in my best Mortimer Duke accent from the movie Trading Places):

"Do you really think I would have a nigger run my country?"
