Roger Clemens at a pick tomorrow vs. the overrated Peavy? What am I missing? And be gentle if it is obvious. :mj14: :weed: dance2 :drinky: :toast: :mj17: :mj12:

Nothing ever wrong with going with the Rocket but I dont like the game here. He has been sick on the road but he doesnt get much run support at all, thats for sure and Houston isnt that good on the road either. I dont think Peavy is overrated at all, this guy has some good stuff. He has struck out 9 or more in his last 5 starts. I kinda like the under in this one. gl to you whatever you play

"the overrated peavy"

 :mj03:

the same peavy who has struck out 9 batters or more in 5 straight games?

the same peavy who has struck out 42 batters in 39 career innings against houston?

the same peavy who leads the majors in strikeouts?

tough game to project, because clemens has been incredible on the road this road. but peavy is anything but overrated. in fact, he might be one of the most UNDERrated pitchers in baseball. the casual fan doesnt know a thing about him and hes quietly having a great year.

Then your decision should be an easy one, right? I am always afraid to bet Houston because their offense just plain stinks. The Rocket has an era below 1 on the road so it is hard to even think about going against him. Problem is I have lost a couple this year when he has left in 7th or 8th with score at 0-0. GOod luck whatever you do as I will lay off.

All I know is every time I bet on Peavy he loses. Every time I bet on Clemens he wins.

so that determines what a good/bad pitcher is? :mj03:
If you would have bet every game Peavy started this year you would be 18-9.
Overrated, I think not, I have watched Peavy for the last three years and he's the most competitive pitcher the Padres have ever had, I guarantee you pitching against Clemens will bring the very best in him. Heck, Clemens himself said it at the beginning of the year that Peavy is one of the best young players coming on in the game. But I know my opinion doesn't carry much weight since I am a Padre fan. ;)

Kevin Brown was the most competitive pitcher the padres ever had. That world series run they had he was as fierce a pitcher I've ever seen anywhere. Now he's a nobody, but with the Padres that year, he rivaled Hershisher in 88.

As for Peavy, the guy is nails. Is he better than Clemens. NO. His career isn't over yet either though. In our lifetime there may never be a better pitcher than Clemens. But you aren't betting that. You are just betting one random August game against two very average teams.

This game is so unbettable. Do any of you people ask yourself why you are betting a game. Books spit people out who bet sides in a game like this. Flip a freakin coin. Both pitchers are awesome, how do you know which team will get some runs to win. You don't. There are at least ten better games tomorrow where you might have an edge. All you are doing is flipping a coin tomorrow. And 50% isn't gonna cut it in this business.

And more importantly, most people that post like this just care about short term results. So yeah, if Roger wins tomorrow you can come in here and laugh and beat your chest like you discovered the cure for cancer. But in reality, if you keep exposing your bankrolls to games with no edge, you are fighting with fire and books love it.

I respectfully disagree. KB had a great year for the Padres but he never got as fired up as Peavy does during a game.
