Portland State PK

PSU opened the season with two impressive road wins over Boise State and Arizona State (overtime) before losing to San Diego at home.

Cal Poly opened with a 75-57 loss at Northern Arizona before beating St Mary's at home 70-50.

PSU is a young team and they just fell apart vs San Diego, playing bad defense and shooting just 39% for the game, including no field goals in the final 7 minutes.

Cal Poly returns just one starter from last year, 6-8 F Brandon Beeson, who had a career day vs St Mary's, leading the team in points (23) and rebounds (11).

I really like Portland State here because:

1. They have proved they can win on the road against some pretty decent teams.

2. I think PSU's loss to San Diego was a wake-up call and that the Vikings will be ready to play tonite.

3. Cal Poly is overrated after a 20 point win against St Mary's, one of the worst college teams in the nation.

4. Home court is not much of an advantage for Cal Poly as only 2000 fans show up for their games (1851 for the St Mary's game).

5. Despite the hot hand of Beeson in the St Mary's game, Cal Poly has not shot the ball well hitting just 42% from the field, 27% from 3 points and 63% from the line.

6. Cal Poly lost to Northern Arizona by 18, a team picked by some to finish below PSU in the Big Sky conference.

Agree with you. I was at the Portland St-ASU game and I saw first hand how poised this Viking squad is. They got a great mixture of shooters who play with a lot of heart and are not discouraged when they fell down 17 points.
