looking for some suggestions and/or remedies to get this bitch out..

i have one racoon that is starting a home and maybe a family in my attic right above my bedroom. i am 100% positive that it is a coon and not some other creature for many reasons ie i have seen this bitch in my yard at dusk on multiple occasions. well we all know that it's spring time and they have babies in the spring, so i need to act fast assuming sh? hasnt given birth yet.

there are a few problems....i dont know where her access point is located...she is in the part of the attic that i cannot get to...i dont want to pay 500 bones for a professional to come out when i think i can do it myself. i have heard a trap with sardines works...since they sleep during the day and nobody is home, i know someone that played rush limbaugh at high volumes right under their den and it drove them out...i could release my dogs in the attic, but i dont want rabies or insulation issues with my dogs

i need to act fast before the mom gives birth! :scared

Ebay has you answer!

item number 7232216470 racoon trap.

I`ve used these they work! You might catch your neighbors cat but if you get up early enough they will never know.

here's a serious response. Your city/county where you live will have some sort of animal control officer. That person is probably associated with the police or sherrif's dept. Call him and tell him what you have going on. Secondly, if that person isn't going to help, there is a live trap style on the market called a "Have-a-Heart" trap. Coons are not difficult to catch, and you can probably do that on your own and then transport it to a different location. Google when a coon normally has it's young, or look closely and if it's a female, see if it's teets are engorged/large and therefore nursing. If it is, then the young will most likely die and rot and stink in your attic.

Lastly, I'm not totally convinced you have a coon in your attic. Is it at night or during the day that you hear the noises? If the noises are at night, I bet it's not a coon. If the noises are during the day, then maybe so. Sounds more like a squirrel problem to me, especially if you hear it at night, and because they are more prone to get in attics. Keep us informed.

Wareagle, if you can get close enough to where it is in your attic try throwing some moth balls around. the smell i have heard will run them out.

Cheap route even if it doesn't work.

thanks 6.5...

only hearing them at the crack of dawn in the morning, not all night, like my wife thinks. my thought is that they are on their way in to sleep during the day.

i have seen the same coon in my front yard at dusk on multiple occasions! i also busted this bitch eating my tomatoes and peppers last summer!

i am going to try and listen for babies as soon as i get home this afternoon and look for coon hair as well as an entry/exit point

you're right it "could" be squirrels, those rat bastards have had a history in the house from the previous owner, but i just feel that this is a momma coon either who just had babies or is looking for somewhere to give birth.
