how about tickets for them and a friend accompied by you to one of the more hip places or things to do near bye.

personally feel that it combines all the things we want Christmas to say..

my kids are cool...so am I...lets once again reinforce to my cool kids that I like doing the cool things they like to do..Furthermore ..I know you kids have a good buddy ..so lets all hang out and do something together that is really cool..

and bring the cameras..

not only memories for you and your children but a nice account for your children to pass on to their children when it is time to teach them what they learned from you..

Good advice OS, and have thought of that and came up with Disneyworld which is a no go due to almost zero time off of work...plusu the xmas crowds are brutal. Also thought about a Jags game but who the fuck wants to see the Jags esp against the Colts on Jan 1st....that could be closer to a punishment then a gift lol

there have to be things either going on or especially coming up[for planning purposes for you and those children involved.]that just sing out.."Yea Buddy".

you might consult your local library and counselors at school.

also look on line for "Hip things for my kids to do with Dad hanging out too."

gotta be some buddy..

first thing that comes to mind is the circus.

second is a play or ...damn...we need some help..

some much more personal of a gift than another game..or phone..or whatever is the latest faze for expensive yak yak yak yak yak yak devices.

gotta come up with something..

going to ask my wife..

she is good as coming up w/stuff for the grandchildren to experience that are not only fun but benefical in the longrun..

and they usually don't require that I knock a hole in the wall and get some stashed cash out..

Every child loves to look at the tree and all the presents. Then when they get their chance, they open the fancy box and find a $100 giftcard that they can play with the whole day. The kids would be thrilled. In fact, so thrilled that they may consider chopping mommy and daddy up with a butcher knife when they go to sleep.

Hedgy, C'mon man,at least make it $350

Plan the next 10 or 15 fun Saturdays with them. Make a coupon book or calendar detailing each activity. Obviously I don't mean just Saturdays.

For instance maybe its movie vouchers that you staple to a random Thursday night in January.

Or tickets to an art museum on a Sunday morning.

High school sports tickets to the school that they will be attending in a few years.

Maybe one night your children can pick a place to go out for dinner or ice cream.

Seems silly but even going to a used bookstore or library might be fun.

Sometimes coffee shops around here have little free jazz or other concerts. Kids that age might think going to a coffee shop is neat.

I bet you know what they like to do better than anyone.

Stuff like that. I know that they will roll their eyes at some of it. But deep down they will appreciate the thought and time you put into planning out your next few adventures.

They don't have to be expensive. It seems that the least expensive ideas are normally the most memorable.

They will have fun with you no matter the activity or place because they will be with their dad. I promise that they will remember it longer than the Ipod too.

my smarter companion tells me to check for Disney Tours coming to town with shows..

also look for Ice Capes..

also the Arts and Leisure section of local newspaper should have a list of upcoming events arranged by age group and interests.
