===============================================================

This is a great price for a mid-high end processor, Ram & hd space (The Big 3 you should look at when purchasing)

The screen is a little small but with an hdmi out port you can easily plug in to a bigger monitor or tv.

I priced out building this machine on their customize builder it would retail at the $1100-1150 range to have it built. They are showing it at $899 on here and then taking an additional $150 off. It made me think I was missing something and other than having a run of the mill video card and not being touch screen, everything else seemed to check out.

If you have been thinking about a new laptop but waiting on a good deal, this is it.

If you are a gamer and/or need super fast clean image rendering, this is a big upgrade over the computer I showed - If it is just for email, gambling watching videos it will be nicer but not necessarily needed.

When you watch a video or movie, the graphics know what comes next. The screen doesn't need time to buffer/render the explosion or guy jumping out of the closet because it knew it was coming.

When you play a game, the graphics are not known and instead are determined by your actions which means that the computer must calculate what happened and then show it. This would be for online world games or high video quality games. If this or someone else in the house plays these type of games, go with yours

Also - Something I just read up on today is the HDMI 4k capability which will be the next generation of HD 1080i (I read an article on the ps4 that talked about it) - That means more things in the future will become 4k compliant so you would be ahead of the curve.

Price wise on the items that weren't on mine are below - It's an additional ` +350-375 on the one I showed which means the $1100 price is right inline with where it should be on their sales price.

1. `+150 - NVIDIA? GeForce? GT 740M with Optimus? (Better Graphics Card)

2. +$150 - Touchscreen display (Personal preference)

3. +$25 - Intel? Centrino? Wireless-N 2230 + Bluetooth 4.0, WiDi Capable (Slight upgrade, depends on your internet service and router on whether you will get the higher end speeds)

4. (Not Upgradeable - estimate $25-50) HDMI output with 4K capability (Pretty neat upgrade)

Bottom line - Both are great deals for getting a higher end machine at a lower cost

If/Then

Gamer or may be in the future or can't live w/out touch screen / Go with yours

Normal use / Go with mine and save the money

Josh why TOSHIBA ? The quality of their build is by far the worst on the market...

SAMSUNG is #1 and the quality impeccable. You should re-think spending $800 on Toshiba.:0008

You obviously have some experience in the tech world, with the help you provided on the wireless router the other day. I don't have anything against Samsung but they are more expensive and at my shop, more likely to fail than a Toshiba.

I value your opinion over yelp, so if you have any other personal input, I'd love to have it. I ask people all the time about their computer products and try to keep track of pros v cons. Same as we do gambling.

I can't talk to generalities but I do know that I "fix" many computers. The most "broken" brand is Dell. The Dell power supply unit is the shittiest piece of hardware on the market. That's not my opinion, that's a fact, I'm an umpire that makes judgment calls for a living.

The brand name of most of these machines, is just that, a brand name. Cheerios are still Toasted O's. An Intel i7 processor in a Samsung is the same Intel i7 processor in a Toshiba. Same nvidia card. same ddr3l ram. same windows 8. etc.

The hardware which separates the 2 products are not high fail items. The backlight in Toshiba lasts as long as in the Samsung, usually. In the last year I have worked on 2 Samsungs, 1 Toshiba (backlight), a million dells, half a million hp's and no acers. Buy an acer

The guts of the machine, which are what you are buying. is the most important in my opinion. That's why I recommend this Toshiba and that's why I'm recommending anyone that needs an upgrade to get this particular deal.

At this price they won't be around long.

They'll be Going Goin Gone

It sucks big time. There is a free program called win shell or something that brings back the windows 7 feel, if you do not have win 8.1. I'll find a link when I get home.

I've written a few things about it that'll I'll find and post when I get home. We're taking the dog to the lake.

Classic Shell - http://www.classicshell.net/

Classic Shell Review - http://sourceforge.net/projects/classicshell/

Windows 8 is perfect for the windows phone

Windows 8 is terrible for a professional.

Dragging the top of an app to the bottom of the screen to close instead of mouse clicking the x is stupid

The built in email program that replaced winmail is the shittiest piece of software since windows disk defragmenter

Tie for 2nd most stupid feature:
hidden control panel
desktop panel being the same size as everything else
mousing to the corner of the screen to get back to the app page
having to have a windows email to register windows 8

Other than that - I Love It

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Remember that time you threatened Jack's life and said you and your Russian friends were going to fuck up the website?

Could you have done it with a Toshiba? Oh I bet you have to have a Samsung.
