OF YOU GUYS TALK ABOUT TEAMS NOT WANTING TO BE THERE. I PLAYED FOOTBALL ALL THE WAY THRU 2 YEARS OF ARENA LEAGUE AND YES THERE ARE GAMES YOU GET UP FOR MORE THAN OTHERS BUT THAT EXTRA EMOTION ONLY THE FIRST FEW MINUTES A THE GAME. THERE IS NO PLACE I'D RATHER BE THAN ON A FOOTBALL FIELD WHETHER I WAS PLAYING FOR A CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP OR PRACTICING. AND MOST OF MY TEAMMATES WERE THE SAME WAY.

No offense B, but usually the ones with the most "want to" are not the ones with the most ability. Unfortunatly there are many that can decide the outcome of a game that do not share your enthusiasm and purity for the game. If everyone had Hiesman talent and a Rudy attitude then we wouldnt be talikng about this, but that aint the case dude. If it makes you feel better how bout we say that some teams and their key players want to be there more instead of the other team wanting to be there less:0074

played 3 years in college, i get what your sayin emotions always go out the door after the first few plays then instinct takes over...

that being said, i played in a small school where everyone was just happy too be there...i am sure in the big conferences like this there are some big time divas who simply arent satisfied playing for the little ceasers pizza bowl championship....

either way, regardless if ppl always show up, or sometimes dont wanna be tehre you will never know that before a game and really cant cap emotions like that....i always look at games trying too think that both teams are treating it the same, cause really you never know what guys are thinking...

I would guess its more in the prep. Once the whistle blows, any athlete wants to win and will give 100%. In any athletes mind, you can always turn it on, but its when you have 4 weeks off and you get time to go home, hang out with your boys and all the junk before hand that determines how well your body and mind snap into it once the game starts. 20 year old kids brains are not that easy to get to focus off the field, that's where coaching is key.

check the nebraska performance yesterday. Was SMU 'up" for Army like they were Nevada last year?NOOOO...Expect georgia, oklahoma to be equally uninspired by their opponents. Its not exactly that they don't want to be there, its that they are not psyched to be playing who they drew in the bowl game and don't prepare and get up emotionally for the game...........

I thought the same way too. I would hate to hear the excuse of one team getting beat as "they didn't want to be there". However, I do understand how some guys just won't "get up" for a meaningless game.

I heard a recruiting guy on the radio the other day talk about a high school stud acting like he was hurt all week before an all-star game. He didn't want to put forth any effort at all. Come game time he was horrible. Then another guy kinda did the same thing, but come game time he played lights out. You really just don't know with some kids what they are thinking or want to do.
