4* Arkansas -7.5 over Boise St
This is a big step up in class Boise St is taking. Maybe the last 2 years, this team could have competed and they did against this type of competition. Not this year, after struggling against Idaho LW, a perennial doormat for the Broncos, they come into the den of the Razorbacks and will not be able to use their high flying pass game against Arkansas's secondary, rated one of the better pass defenses in Division 1. Arkansas should prevail easily in their home opener.
3* Alabama +13 over Oklahoma
Oklahoma did not look good LW winning 37-0 against Tulsa. QB Jason White did not look comfortable in the pocket and IMO is not the QB that will take the Sooners to the promised land. HC Franchione will have the Tide sky high for this one. This could be as important to this program as a bowl bid, which many think is not in the cards for Bama this year. I think the Bama defensive line will be able to give the Okie's offense enough problems to keep this close and get the cover.
3* Utah -14 over Indiana
Indiana's HC DiNardo is enough for me to go against this stiff, and add the fact that Randle "the franchise" is gone, I can't see any chance this team will cover. This will be a considerable step up for the Hoosiers compared to the patsy they barely beat last week, William & Mary. Utah is a very good and sound FB team in all areas and will dominate this Big Ten pretender.
3* Miami +2.5 over Florida
I can not believe Miami is getting points, I don't care if they are playing in the swamp. Florida under a new HC has done nothing too deserve this type of respect. They killed a absolutely terrible UAB team at home in the swamp, SO WHAT! We are talking about the National Champs with arguably the best QB in college FB and a defense returning 7 starters. Maybe I'm way off base, but this is a no brainer for me, Miami wins their 24th straight.
2* TCU -5.5 over Northwestern
After LW performance by NW against the Air Force and TCU's good showing against Cincy, just not quite good enough as Cincy squeaked out a cover for us, TCU answered alot of questions for me about their FB team this year. Northwestern was either an aberration LW or they are really that bad. Either way I feel comfortable being on the Frogs.
2* SDSU +24 over Colorado
I can't believe how this game mirrors the reasoning used LW to take the Aztecs against Fresno St. It is almost dejavu, so why wouldn't we hop on them again with even more points. So we will and make Colorado prove they can play in spite of having Barnett as their HC.
2* South Florida -6.5 over Northern Illinois
Because of some "insider" info from a USF alum, who is very close to the program and happens to be my brother in law, I believe USF will not only cover, but will win going away. The Bulls have 4th year starter QB Marquel Blackwell back along with a full complement of WR & RB that averaged 35.2 ppg. LY. Add to that a defense that returns 8 starters that allowed only 2.9 ypc rushing. This all adds up to a solid play on the Bulls.
