Nice set....:0002
Decent deal
If you have access to a Costco, they currently have a deal on a 75" Samsung @ 1699.00 with a better warranty. Model #75MU6070

Bigger isn't always better unless you are trying to impress people who know nothing about TVs.

OLED is insane. If you are willing to drop 2k I'd much rather go with a smaller OLED than what you posted. Then again, it may not get the oohs and aaahs from the people you may be trying to impress but the picture is by far the best out there. No contest.

I've done some research but really don't know enough about the technology to really know if this is a good TV. Reviews seem positive and it's on sale today putting it in my budget (albeit at the very top end of said budget).

Looks like a decent TV, thoughts?

Was going to say something very similar to what Saint already wrote. OLED is the only way to go. Getting a good "deal"?

Not really. Clearing out non-OLED TV's is all. Don't bite. Go OLED all the way.

I hear what both of you are saying, but those are just out of my price range. The wall this is going on will fit 75 inches perfectly. There is a 55 inch there now that looks out of place. I'm really not trying to impress anyone as Saint suggests, 75 just happens to be the size that fits best.

I agree OLED is the best, but I just don't have the budget for that.

I do have a Costco membership, the big difference between the one you posted and the one I'm looking at is the refresh rate, which is important when watching live sports. The costco one is 60 hz while the Best Buy one is 120 hz.

My understanding is there is a large difference.

From what I understand, it really isn't. When they use terms like "MotionRate 120" it's actually a true 60HZ that they "upscale" to 120HZ and that isn't the same, at least according to the reviews.

I dunno, all this is over my head. I may just keep the plasma as this point and forget it. Now I'm looking at the OLED's like suggested and I see the one above for $2299 but it doesn't make sense to get that one when a much nicer one is $2699. So what started out at a $2K budget is now approaching $3K with tax.

Escalating....

check out last years oled's, they use same panels as all this years models
= all manufacturers, sony , pana, philips , LG even loewe uses LG's panels

so only difference to last year oled panels is software tweaks. picture quality is about the same.

cheers, i hope you find good one

LG B7A OLED TV charges a bit less for the best picture yet

August 31, 2017 10:08 AM PDT

Updated November 17 to reflect LG's Black Friday sale prices.
I'll keep this short and sweet: if you're in the market for a high-end TV, the LG OLEDB7A should be the first on your list.
Why, you ask?

  • It has the same picture quality as the OLEDC7P series, "the best-performing TV we've tested to date."
  • During LG's 2017 Black Friday sale, the 55-inch size costs $1,500 and the 65-inch size costs $2,300. That's $200 and $400 less, respectively, than the C7.
  • The only differences between the two are cosmetic (different stands) and audio-related (the B7A lacks Dolby Atmos decoding and has a different speaker configuration).
  • I don't think those differences are worth the extra money to most buyers.
Now, I haven't tested the B7A directly, but I did perform hands-on comparison reviews of the LG C7, the LG E7and the Sony A1E OLED TV. Based on those tests, and LG's claim that all of its 2017 OLED TVs have identical picture quality, I feel just as comfortable recommending the B7A as I do the C7 or the others.
The picture on all 2017 OLED TV's I've tested is simply the best I've ever seen, better than any other TV I've ever reviewed. OLED stands for Organic Light-Emitting Diode, and it's a different display technology than the LCD used on most TVs. Unlike LCD (including QLED), it exhibits perfect black levels for unrivaled contrast and "pop," and stays true from off-angle.

Only LG makes OLED TVs in large screen sizes, although other brands like Sony, Philips and Bang & Olufsenbuy panels from LG Display and sell the TVs under their own brands. LG introduced the B7A in late August 2017, months after its other 2017 OLED models were available, and it just started appearing online and in stores.

So, about those differences. The C7's stand is pretty cool, but then again so is the B7A's -- it looks a lot like the stand on the 2016 B6, with a chunk of transparent plastic above a metallic base.
The lack of Atmos only matters if you have a Dolby Atmos sound system and you want to use the TV's built-in apps to pass the Atmos soundtracks. If you'd rather use an external streaming device, or don't care about Atmos, don't worry about it. About that different speaker configuration, LG says: "Although total audio power is 40W for each, the C7 has 2 woofers (2.2 channel) while the B7A does not (4.0 channel)." In other words, the C7 might have slightly better bass. Big woop.

You can read reviews of those who have bought this OLED ...

keep in mind 90 days from Costco..no questions asked

mass produced electronics

best buy..2 weeks and then you deal with the manufacturer

I am going to get a 70+ OLED at some point ...at least another year wait

the 70 LED is nice but even it seems too small now..

note...I can buy 2 for what I paid for this one .in 2012

enjoy whatever you choose...major purchase ...cover all the bases

Return & Exchange Periods

Time period begins the day you receive your product and applies to new, clearance, open-box, refurbished and pre-owned products.

Good call. It's $50 more at Costco, but you get the second year warranty for free. I think this is the direction I am going to go. We stopped at Best Buy to look at them and the picture quality isn't really close, but my wife is so sold on the larger screen. I'm pretty sure we end up with the OLED thanks to the advice here.

It will cost me a few more dollars and be a smaller screen but appears worth it.

When you are watching Clint Eastwood movies, you'll be glad you spent a few dollars more......
