What are your thoughts on this?

Some guy on Bill O'Reilly was saying that if the illegal Hispanics disappered from California then the whole state would suffer a massive financial disaster.

He said illegal immigrants bring in so many hundreds of millions of dollars into the economy that California would be doomed if they vanished......It was kind of wierd because there was no mention whatsoever of the financial strain that the illegals put on our state.

3 million illegal immigrants sneak into California each year from Mexico.......Can you imagine how much taxpayers pay out each year for free education and free hospital, doctor, and maternity bills alone??? It's prob well over a billion, easily.

FACT:
$2 billion/year spent on education for illegal immigrants -
2/3 of all felony arrest warrants = illegal immigrants

Ha! Ha! I trust everyone's bullshi*t meter stopped them from believing that 66% of all felony arrest warrants in CA are for illegals! It's 2/3 of FUGITIVE felony arrest warrants=illegals. No surprise that fugitives (i.e, illegals, and/or illegals that can easy escape out of country) make up a whole lot of fugitive arrest warrants.

crimes commited by illegals hard to quantify as data here very problematic. One solid statistic tho is illegals in prison--they make up just 12.5% in CA. Tho it's true the "inmate days in prison" stat has gone up, but so has all other groups as that is due to the "three strikes" law.

Costs of illegals high, but so are benefits. Many don't realize benefits. For example, illegals contribute several billion a year to Social Security administration (using fake SS numbers) money they will never see. Or, rather, 98% won't see. There actually exists a program that they can claim back their benefits paid in as illegals once they become legal! Congress has bill afoot to close this loophole off.

Most mainstream economists by far say they benefit more than cost, so that 's why anti-immigration groups talk more about "human" or "social" costs of illegals.

Californians didn't complain much during boom years of '90s when NAFTA caused tripling of trade and big increase of illegals helping produce a 12 billion dollar state surplus. A surplus the good folks in Sacramento spent crazy like a drunk madjacker at dollar night in the local whorehouse.

Heck, if illegals hurt a state economy, then TX, CA, and FL should have been basket cases for decades---rather than the economic powerhouses they are.

Some industries have matured so much with this illegal and cheap labor that demand for it is almost divorced from the business cycle---and continues to grow in absolute numbers even tho the proportion of lowskilled jobs created continues to drop. Suddenly removing them would be a big disruption. Tho "massive financial disaster" is a bit too strong I think---it's remarkable how adaptable US business is when under the gun.

Much less a problem in Texas, partly because illegals there get lot less freebies. I saw that CA legislature even had bills they wanted to pass to give illegals the cheaper in-state tuition at colleges and universities!
