I can absolutely live on burgers alone.
It's got just about everything ya need...protein, carbs, veggies, fat, etc....
Try not to take a big goober bite before yu take a pic of food.
Just say in.
I am sure this is delicious......I like my burger on a bun. It just doesn't seem the same on sliced bread to me. Just my hang up I guess. :0074
In terms of local LA burger chains, the habit is pretty low on my list. Salty, check out LA Burger over on Pico and Stearns (1 block from crescent heights blvd) and let me know what you think. Not an expensive fancy burger, but they've got the Best beef patties in town IMO.
I think the habit is pretty darn good as far as burger chains... it's cheap and it's never frozen. Not to many places I can get a burger on sourdough either which I love .La burger is not a chain it's just a hole in the wall... I went there once, meh... that place closed by the way... there's also La burger bar which is just down the street west of la Cienega and It's average at best imo. Now there's also La Buns in Downey which is not a chain but damn good, especially there chicken sandwich,, just fyi.... Talk about burger chains the best burger chain I've been to so far is the counter.... specifically the one in marina del Rey.... whose ever cookin the burgers back there is doing a damn good job. My burger is always a perfect medium rare out of that joint. The counter is tasty... just my opinion though maybe I went on the wrong day DZ
When did LA Burger close? I was just there last month...
Didn't mean to imply it was a chain. Just a good spot to get a burger not known to most.
My opinion... Counter is better than Habit. But I've been to the counter in marina and been to numerous others around town and never once have they gotten my (or my wife's for that matter) custom burger order right ONCE. Every single time they've gotten at least one thing wrong. That kind of thing irks me to no end.
Another one I'd recommend is Slaters 50/50 and Plan Check (both have multiple locations but aren't really burger chains, more resaurants).
But, in terms of true chains, I still think In-N-Out, 5 Guys and Shake Shack (now that we have it out here) are all better than counter or the habit (with the latter two being much better by leaps and bounds).
But, will give the Habit another try since its been a few years. Just wasn't too memorable last time I went. I used to go to one on sepulveda south of LAX, but that one was closed down for a while and recently reopened for some reason.
It's not just bread it's buttered grilled sourdoug!!! You have to try at least once...
I haven't been to slater 50/50 yet but I have been to the plan check just outside of downtown on Wiltshire. It's okay... I do like the jidori chicken sandwich but it always smells fishy in their...kinda turned me off. To be honest I hate shake shack. Absolutely hate it. Next time your in town try this place called Hawkins house of burgers... not the best of neighborhoods but you will not be disappointed. And or 6th st tavern in downtown... my favorite burger right now is at 6th st tavern
Big fan of Hawkins and have been many times. One thing about going to that place is, you better not have plans for the rest of the day because you are guaranteed to suffer a seriously debilitating case of the 'itis afterwards. The burgers there are colossal and delicious and if you don't get one topped with a fried egg, well, you just aren't livin'. Their friend chicken and waffles are phenomenal as well.
It's a shame that you hate shake shack. It's been a real treat for me over the last few years having them and Halal Guys open up franchises in SoCal, me being from NYC originally. Next time I'm in downtown lookin' for a meal, I'll definitely hit up 6th St. Tavern for a burger.
Where you at dz? Close to Fullerton? Speaking of fried chicken and waffles have you eaten at the serving spoon in Inglewood? Some of the best imo... also a really good Jamaican spot is not too far... front page Jamaican grill.... it's a husband and wife spot.... I need to get over on that side of town... been a while
Yea, I've been once...Pann's right down the road as well as Dinah's a little further down both have some pretty decent fried chicken. Haven't been to the Jamaican spot. I'm up in that area occasionally doing work for a client near the oil field, but I live in the South Bay. I gather you live or work around downtown?
