If anyone cares....my Congressman, Jim Traficant, is on trial, again for bribery. There's so much more to this story, but to be brief, he is accused of bribery and of receiving kickbacks from his congressional staff.
(USATODAY)
It's the second time in Traficant's 20-year political career that he has been tried on corruption charges. And it's the second time he has represented himself -- even though he never went to law school. The congressman admits he's ''scared,'' but he remains undaunted.
''I have become more steadfast in my pursuit of challenging these bastards than ever,'' Traficant, 60, says of the FBI agents and government prosecutors who built the case against him. ''They better not make a mistake or I'm going to shove it up their backsides.''
Trafficant was tried in 1983 for corruption, bribery, tax evasion and being affiliated with the mafia in 1983, when he was Mahoning County Sherriff. The prosecution found him with mob money and had numerous tapes of him conferring with the mob. He represented himself...and won. Since then, he has publicly lobbied to rid the world of the IRS and and is constantly mocking the FBI.
QUOTE
The IRS said last year's 81 percent error rate dropped to only 73 percent this past year. Unbelievable. The Internal Rectal Service screws up 73 percent of the time and then brags about it.
If that is not enough to cause your 1040 to crepitate, IRS agents gave the wrong advice to taxpayers only 50 percent of the time last year, according to an investigation.
Beam me up. The IRS does not need more workers; the IRS does not need more money. These stumbling, fumbling, bumbling mistake-prone nincompoops have got to go.
I yield back the need to pass the Tauzin-Traficant 15 percent flat retail sales tax, abolish the income tax, and abolish these nincompoops at the IRS.
Jim has appeared in court in his traditional bell-bottom slacks and denim 3 piece suits...but he has apparently hung up the cowboy boots.
Heres his latest quote after answering a question about running for re-election.
''You're asking me about a fly on my face when there's an elephant eating my ass?'' he snapped with characteristic vividness when a reporter asked about his re-election plans.
Youngstown was/is well represented with the mob. Recently, the FBI has combed through many people in the area in an effort to clean it up...that includes jailing the Sherriff of Mahoning County.
How could you not root for a guy that looks this goofy?
Go get em Jim...."Beam me up."
