What's the deal with this event. Why are there no odds up for it?

It may not be the best fighters but there are some entertaining fights that might go down.

okay i tried a little harder and found it on Sherdog. Looks like Filho had problems with his weight. Maybe he should have sat down his imaginary friend then got on the scale. Ahh that isn't nice.

SYDNEY, Australia -- The weigh-ins for Impact FC's Sunday offering at the Sydney Entertainment Centre seemed like a straightforward affair. Then, Paulo Filho showed up.

The event's principal fighters all made weight: 46-year-old Ken Shamrock tipped the beam at a ripped and muscular 212 pounds, while opponent Pedro Rizzo registered at 244 pounds. Co-headlining welterweights Paul Daley and Daniel Acacio both weighed in at 171 pounds. Early on, the biggest incident was the simple fact that Daley had to get naked to make weight.

Filho was conspicuous by his absence for much of the weigh-ins. The embattled middleweight entered the Shell Cove Room at the Citigate Central Hotel 59 minutes after the slated weigh-in start time, some 20 minutes after the last fighter had been off the scale, looking gaunt and sucked out.

After getting nude on the scale, the once-beaten Brazilian checked in at 187 pounds, one pound over the allowed grace pound. The dejected Filho then sat down amongst the media chairs, and despondently stared at the floor while his fellow Brazilians offered consolation.

Filho's manager, Andre Bottino, told Sherdog.com that the scale at the sauna that Filho was cutting weight at must have been calibrated incorrectly, as they had left at the gym the first time, believing that Filho had weighed in at 186 pounds exactly.

Filho mumbled incomprehensibly, staring into the brown carpeting, while his handlers asked promoter Tom Huggins if Filho's opponent Denis Kang -- who made 185 on his first attempt -- would grant Filho a second pound over. Daniel Acacio's trainer Cristiano Marcello -- once a rival of Filho's when Marcello was at Chute Boxe and Filho at Brazilian Top Team -- offered Filho a pack of gum. Filho then began chewing a mouthful of spearmint, downheartedly spitting gobs of green saliva into a water glass.

Kang said that while he might grant Filho an extra pound, he wanted him to at least attempt to cut one pound in the sauna.

Filho and his camp left the room at 2:06 p.m., and re-entered at 3:02 p.m. An exhausted Filho, dripping sweat from the sauna suit under his sweater and jeans, toweled off and got on the scale completely naked, with absolutely no regard for the audience.:scared :scared The stark nude Filho weighed in at 186, greenlighting the bout with Kang, which was originally supposed to be the final of the Pride 183-pound grand prix back in November 2006.

two washed up fighters heading the main card. i have to believe that Rizzo still has more left than anything Shamrock has. Isn't Rizzo a whole lot bigger also?

linesmaker got a little lazy....but i undertsand why it wasn`t lined...too difficult to get a handle on guy`s that are past their prime....

Is Ninja washed up? I know he was never great but I think he is still the same fighter he always was.

Paul Daley not washed up, just a douchebag.

Not a stellar card current talent wise but hardcore MMA guys are always curious to still see what some of these guys have left.
I know I am curious to see what Bustamante and Rizzo have left.
Rizzo got blasted by Yvel but has since beat Monson and Goodridge so it seems he better than the other also rans.
Shamrock is going to get mauled tonight.
Rizzo has 35lbs on him at weigh in and pop him good.
Still not seeing any odds yet.

And like Kickserv says "any card with a canadian is a good card."

Never a bad card when Baroni or "The World's Most Dangerous Man" is on the card.

Ear Lobes

Ear Lobes

Okay...this is totally off topic and warrants a ban...but could someone give me a story behind these elite fighters' ear lobes? I have been noticing the odd, deformed configuration of these MMA guys' ear lobes for years. What eventually got me was even the asian fighters are now sporting these ears.

What ever do you mean?

thompson-ear-explodes.jpg

Cauliflower ear (also hematoma auris, perichondrial hematoma, and Traumatic auricular hematoma[1]) is a condition most common among boxers, amateur wrestlers, professional wrestlers, rugby players, and mixed martial artists. If the external portion of the ear suffers a blow, a blood clot or other fluid may collect under the perichondrium. This separates the cartilage from the overlying perichondrium that is its source of nutrients, causing the cartilage to die. This leads to a formation of fibrous tissue in the overlying skin. When this happens, the outer ear becomes permanently swollen and deformed, resembling a cauliflower.

..sorry but I cant possibly take a 2010 card with Ken Shamrock headlining seriously...or offer odds on something like this...

Did Busta just verbally tap to cramps or age? or both?

Murilo Bustamante (185) vs. Jesse Taylor (185)

Round 1: Taylor slaps with low kicks early and presses Bustamante's back to the fence. The Brazilian reverses and trips Taylor to the mat, but they're quickly back on their feet. Tenacious takedown attempt from Taylor, who double-legs Bustamante to the base of the cage. Taylor trying to work from full guard with Bustamante tying up his arms well. Bustamante reverses momentarily, but Taylor's soon back in guard with half the round gone. Not much offense on the ground as Taylor tries to advance position and Bustamante angles for a submission with open guard. Taylor attempts to pass to the side, but Bustamante snares an arm and uses the omoplata to gain full mount with 90 seconds left. Bustamante takes the back and locks up a body triangle, but Taylor muscles out of a rear-naked choke attempt. Close round, but I see it 10-9 Bustamante for the submission attempts.

Round 2: Taylor with an early takedown, spends the first two minutes of the round scooting Bustamante around the cage, dropping short elbows. Referee John McCarthy stands the fighters up and Bustamante motions that he can't continue. McCarthy waves it off to zero reaction from the confused crowd. Bustamante tells officials that he's dizzy and points to the side of his head as he's helped to his stool.

Jesse Taylor (15-6) def. Murilo Bustamante (14-8-1) via submission (retirement) R2, 2:10
