--this trend as nation and survive

We've Become a Nation of Takers, Not Makers

More Americans work for the government than in manufacturing, farming, fishing, forestry, mining and utilities combined.

By STEPHEN MOORE

If you want to understand better why so many states?from New York to Wisconsin to California?are teetering on the brink of bankruptcy, consider this depressing statistic: Today in America there are nearly twice as many people working for the government (22.5 million) than in all of manufacturing (11.5 million). This is an almost exact reversal of the situation in 1960, when there were 15 million workers in manufacturing and 8.7 million collecting a paycheck from the government.

I read this article yesterday, Dogs, and it is bothersome to me. Gov't jobs are a net drain on an economy because they are paid with tax dollars. More gov't jobs require more and more tax dollars.....

Anyway, I was a little surprised that the article did not mention anything about the investment / investment banking sector....and how much they are paid and how little value they bring to the table.

If you want to see the REAL problem, consider this: in 1960 our population was 180,000,000. Today it's 300,000,000.

In 1960 8% worked in manufacturing and 5% in government.

Today 4% work in manufacturing and 7% work in government.

Manufacturing jobs have shrunk faster than government jobs have grown.

But the rich have gotten richer. So where are all those jobs capitalism produces? I'll tell you where - low cost labor countries and McDonalds.

Thanks. capitalists.

I would say that is certainly correct per your rebuttal for expanding gov and diminishing manufacturing jobs

"Manufacturing jobs have shrunk faster than government jobs have grown."

Here's some liberal logic for ya, Dawgs.

The good news is...

Your usual broken English statement of "impossible to continue --this trend as nation and survive" is valid.

Maintaining our current economic and tax policies will, in fact, continue to shrink the middle-class and destroy the American dream.

The bad news is...

You don't understand why.
