My first car was a '71 Maverick, blue just like that one. It was passed down to me in '74. Man, I beat the hell out of that car. Drove it for 5 years. By the time of my last wreck in it, the car was about 50% duct tape.

Maverick's were pretty unsafe if you got into a wreck. They were tanks, but that fucking steering wheel was hard as a fucking rock and the seatbelts were a joke. I remember my grandfather would turn a corner and let the steering wheel spin underneath his knuckles and the indentations in the steering wheel would hit is gold wedding ring. Klack. klack. klack. as he turned a corner.

I looked at one back in the early 70's. They had a pretty hefty price tag when they were new.
