Arkansas St. +37

2001 results when the Indians played out of conference (Sun Belt):

Lost to Georgia 17-45 (28 points)
Lost to Baylor 3-24 (21 points)
Lost to Ole Miss. 17-35 (18 points)

Connecticut is a team that I compare Arkansas State to, as far as talent is concerned. Va. Tech beat UCONN in its season-opener last season 52-10 (42 points). This Virginia Tech team is not as strong as last year's squad. The Hokies lost 6 starters on defense, possess unproven talent at the wide receiver position, and two of their best players (quarterback Noel and running back Suggs), are coming off reconstructive knee surgeries. Throw in the likelihood that Virginia Tech will probably play this game close to the vest, with a showdown against LSU looming next week, and I believe the 37 points we are getting with Arkansas State is a good value.

Good luck!

Absolutely! Georgia was better than Virginia Tech last year, and Georgia is better than Virginia Tech this year. The Hokies were not a great football team last season. When you look at what they bring back this season, I find it hard to believe that Virginia Tech will be any better than it was in 2001. Hope this helps. Good luck!
