- - Every single time I see a cut to Garrido during the television coverage, I get the distinct impression of a man in a righteously good place with his game and his chosen profession - and the few snipets I've been able to find and read this season fit what I'm seeing - and it all has roots that go back to the end of last year. A look at his stats for the season explains his strong showing last week through a constricting jungle bush that I would initially think of as ill-suited to his strengths. I have to think any Robert Trent Jones design this week will better match his game, although I'm still waiting to see some pictures on European Tour Weekly before I would confirm my strongest suspicions - that he's knocking at the door if he gets untracked in the first round.

- - I have to confess that Asian athletes across the board (golf and otherwise) have never impressed me as the equals of Western athletes when it comes to the mental makeup that seems to identify champions - I guess the Protestant work ethic trumps the mystical Eastern mental disciplines, or something like that. And in golf, the old school ways of idiosyncratic swings that flourish in Asia don't seem to get it done too well in my memory vault, either. But I see something akin to a Paul Casey-esque bounce in this whippersnapper - believe me, I consider that a wonderful thing - and that has grabbed my attention. I do think he's probably lost some serious momentum since surging to the 36 hole lead last Friday morning, but I still think this is a fair price in this crowd on his chances for shining again so soon.

- - I just remember the old-timers run last year, and think there's some value with his chances for a spark and mixing it up with this week's crowd. 125/1 @ Coral.
