This could be just a mission of damage control for Briscoe, who is trying to keep pace with Dixon and Franchitti.
Helio Castroneves finished fourth at Watkins Glen, and he is another driver who has never raced this course due to the IndyCar split which almost destroyed the series. Castroneves has been up and down since his emotional win at Indianapolis, but a driver of his skill can't have his IndyCar odds counted out.
If he runs this race, Tracy would be a solid pick for betting management players. He did finish 20th at the Glen, but he should have a lot of fan support as he grew up in nearby Scarborough, and he knows this track as well as any current driver in the series, probably better.
