I was listening to the cbs pick6 podcast and their review of Sunday's games. They were talking about the Bengals miracle comeback today and one of the dudes compared it to a Colts/Manning-led comeback against the Bucs in 2003. I'm currently paused on the podcast as I did a quick search--youbube etc--to see if I could find the game; I might have seen it at the time or since but I couldn't remember and, besides, I dig watching old, classic games, especially in the off-season(s). The whole game https://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/200310060tam.htm is there in crap quality--pass--but I did find a decent quality 23-minute piece with just the comeback and then the OT. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=al13DoOFp78

I'm currently paused on that, too, right at the start of OT, Bucs winnings the call. I was thinking about the OT rule changes, since then, but still wondering if and when the option to take the ball was not taken. Link to the 'intersting' article (finally) follows current scribbles. Anyways, I'm surprised by the frequency and some of the circumstances. I don't what all the fancy new analytics say, but I know what common sense is plaguing my brain with ('take the damn ball, even with the new rules'...would have to be extreme situation otherwise, in OT).

There is also mention of a player stating they want to kick, as opposed to choosing a side, and apparently neither getting the ball or the wind. This is in #1 listed and then in the Pats game from 2015 (#14 on list).

I heard that there was some funky snafu in the opening call from last week's Cowboys-Rams game. Seems related, at least in how picky the refs can be on player's audible declarations in such circumstances. Court of law.

wow...that was a goofy ending to what might have been a great game. Al Michaels and Joe Madden, too. Refs had to go and tarnish that game in overtime. 'Leaping.' I'll leave it at that. Fines for shitty calls? I know they get 'graded' but sheesh...I vote for more severe punishments for blown calls. Walk the plank.

spoiler:Colts won

(notice Jon Gruden on opposing sideline, too)
