RECORDS COMPARISONS

The six-game difference between title contenders is the greatest in any NFL championship game ever.:scared

The greatest previous margin in a Super Bowl ? four games ? came back in 1985-86, when the 15-1 Bears trounced the 11-5 Patriots, 46-10.

SCORING COMPARISONS

You know the Patriots scored more points this year (589) than any team in history. You know their scoring differential of +315 points (589-274) is also the greatest in history. :SIB

You might not know that the Giants were a mere +22 on the scoreboard in 2007 (373-351). (Only one team reached the Super Bowl with a more mediocre record in the standings or on the scoreboard. The 1979 Rams went 9-7 and were a mere +14 (323-309).):mj07:

To put it another way,
the Patriots outscored opponents by an average of +19.7 PPG in 2007
the Giants outscored opponents by an average of +1.4 PPG in 2007
There's never been a disparity that great in NFL championship game history.:scared

WEEK 17 GAME COMPARISONS:
The Patriots controlled the clock for more than 36 minutes.
The Patriots punted twice and scored on 7 of 9 drives (if you take away the kneel-down drives at the end of the half and the game).
Tom Brady had his standard clutch performance (116.8 passer rating, including a 130.6 rating in the fourth quarter).
Two New England receivers reached the century mark (Wes Welker, 122 yards; Randy Moss, 100 yards).
The Patriots generated 390 yards of offense and 27 first downs, to just 316 and 19 for the Giants.
The Patriots shredded the Giants for 22 unanswered points through the third and fourth quarters when the game appeared in doubt.

PLAYOFFS vs REGULAR SEASON COMPARISONS:

DEFENSES
Y/R: Both teams have stopped the run better in the PO's - But NE's accomplishment is greater b/c they faced #2 & 7 Rushing teams, NYG? 11,17,21.

3rd %: During the reg. season both teams were stout at 34% & 35%, The Pats got better in PO's the Giants soared to 50%

PTS/GM: NE is down to 16 from a regular season 17. The giants are down to 17 as well from 22

QB rating: Giants have a nice edge here - 64 from 81 in the reg season. The Pats have also controlled oppsoing QB's better as well from 75 down to 71.

OFFENSES
Y/R: Ne has improved from 4.1 to 4.9 - the giants have gone backwards 4.6 in the reg season to 3.5 in the PO's:shrug:

3rd %: NE has improved again 56% up from 48% - The giants have remained status quo at 41%:SIB

PTS: NE has dropped from 26 to 37, NYG avg'd 23 in both seasons

QB rating: ELi has done a great job of protecting the ball and keeping it away from defenders is rating is up 26 points in the PO's to 97 but is is still below brady's 105.:SIB

THE LINE:

So the Gmen have been incredible on the road this season and have won straight PO games OTR to get here and then they get opened up as 2TD dogs and had the public gobble up that line 64% of the time and to sink the hook the further the books moved it a couple of points when tom started walking around with a boot on. The Giants momentum is stymied a bit with an extra week off and the players are loose and having fun.

The Pats on the other hand have not covered a spread in weeks as their run for perfection became a tighter noose around their neck. But now the pressure is off one game to go with a Superbowl on the line. A game they have played before with uncommon regularity in the past 5 years.

Bill has two weeks to prepare for a team that he saw a month ago. Bill also demonstrated this year he does not take the foot of the gas. In their past SB appearances the Pats have done enough to win, controlled the game and got their championship. This year the Pats have been on a mission all year long. they are out to prove they are the BEST TEAM EVER. :00hour

GOOD LUCK!
