NO doubt this will be the most talked about game of the night. This games is on ESPN.. Iowa who has been pitiful on the road this year gets a chance to redeem themselves from an embarrassing home loss to indiana, a double digit loss, in which they were never really in the game, for all intent and purposes it was over at halftime. Both sqads will more than likely make post season play(NCAA) so it's not a win or no tournement type of game. Iowa has played ONE game in the last 10 days and i don't think they spent the six days off between there last game on 1/26 a loss to purdue preparing for penn state. Alford played a lot of subs in their game against penn state, giving them some experienc and making sure his troops will be fresh for tonights game. My take is that he will press Indiana the entire game if necessary, and that no shot will go uncontested if possible. Everyone knows alfords' ties to indiana, and that job was his if he wanted it, and i think he would love nothing more to go back there and prove that he is a much better coach than the past 2 weeks have shown. I think you will see the best all around effort out of his entire Iowa squad tonight. I dont' think you will see Iowa blow out Indiana but this games going to be alot closer than most people think, Alford knows he can turn his season around with a win at Indidana tonight. I'll take the +7.5 and hope that i don't make an ass out of myself with this write-up.:D

doc , IU has played 2 games in the last week . Last tuesthey beat Purdue then on sat. they blew a double digit at the half at Minn. and ended up loosing by 14.This will be Recker's first game back to IU since transferring in 1999. However Recker is 2-0 against his former teamates. Iowa beat IU at Iowa City in regular season and beat them again in the Big Ten Tournament Championship game last season. The IU fans have marked this game on their calenders to harass and humilate Recker. Recker has told his parents who live in-state not to attend this game, so they will nothave to hear the insults.

Doc--

No way Iowa presses Indiana all night tonight. This team(Iowa) just isn't good enough to do that. Oh, they will try and press for a while, but when Indiana keeps getting easy lay-ups because of the press, Iowa will come out of it. Indiana embarassed Iowa at home earlier this season, winning by double digits in Iowa City.
Nothing has changed on this Iowa team. Recker is an over-rated crybaby who refuses to listen to his coaches and plays only for himself. Indiana will double and triple-team Evans inside and Reggie will get frustrated and try to do it all by himself. Pierre Pierce will continue to ignore the coaches and try and take the ball to the basket almost everytime down floor.
Indiana would have won this game by 20+ points even before losing at Minnesota on Saturday-- but since they did, it could get even uglier than that.
This one is a blowout. Indiana by 22.

Recker is 2-1 against his former teamates!!! He lost his first game of this season on Jan 13th 77-66. Recker was held to 12 points 5-13 shooting and fouled out. Evans was held to 7 points. Look for Jeffries to be strong tonight just as he was in hte first meeting. He is too quick and handles the ball to good for Iowa's big men. Fife, Coverdale, and (I hate to admit this) Hornsby play very well at home of late. IU fans want this game bad! Davis wants this game worse (he was in a rumor tornado with Alford) for Knight's permanant replacement. Does he have anything to prove? Recker is so HATED by many Hoosier fans for leaving. Hatred Banners were hung around town when he left. The difference will be the defense of former teamate and friend (Dane Fife) on Recker. The different looks IU can put on the floor with 6-10 Jeffries, 6-11 Leach, 6-9 Odle, and 6-9 Newton. Their big ten games at home this year 61-54 over Penn St, 83-65 over Mich St, 88-57 over Illinois, and 66-52 over Biggest Rival Purdue...IU wins this game by a minimum of 10-13 points if not a blow out.
