Round 1 play (2pts):
Matthew Fitzpatrick to beat Darren Fichardt +100 @ 5Dimes and Bet365
Opposing Fichardt given his record in Ireland (both the Republic and Northern Ireland) - he has missed each of his last ten cuts ... the only time since the 2003 Irish Open that he has reached the weekend in Ireland was in the no-cut WGC-American Express Championship in 2044 when he finished ahead of just six players. Last week Fitzpatrick became the first player since Bobby Jones to hold low amateur medals for the US Open and the Open at same time and there is a danger of letdown in this week's event, particularly as it is his first event as a professional, but I think that change is rather slim. He has shown that he has the game to suit any course and to say that he is great prospect is a huge understatement. Against Fichardt in this event, I don't see how he can be the underdog.
[unofficial rd1 system plays: Cabrera-Bello tb Quiros -115; Fleetwood tb Grace -115]
