To add about Bettis being out:
Bettis officially ruled out

Jerome Bettis held a stakeout at the UPMC Sports Complex early Friday morning. His target was Steelers coach Bill Cowher.
"I tried to get him as soon as he got out of his car," said Bettis, the Steelers' star tailback who is itching to play Sunday against the New York Jets, despite a hip-groin injury. "I figured it was probably the best time, so I kind of timed it up right."
Before Cowher even could get out of his vehicle, Bettis pounced.
"I came up and was real buddy-buddy with him," Bettis said. "Then, I kind of sprung it on him."
The Steelers veteran told Cowher he was ready to go. The suggestion was not well received.
"He didn't go for it," Bettis said.
Asked how Cowher responded, Bettis let out a loud, "No-o-o-o-o-o!."
"I was subtle about it," Bettis said. "I was just letting him know I feel good. I think he kind of knew where the line of talks were going so he cut me off. He said, `No way. No chance.' "
That was enough for Bettis, who stood on the side in a warmup suit yesterday while his teammates went through a workout for their 4:15 p.m. meeting with the Jets (7-4) tomorrow at Heinz Field. The Steelers enter the game with the best record (9-2) in the AFC.
Bettis, whose 1,072 yards rank him second in the NFL in rushing behind the Jets' Curtis Martin (1,082), will be replaced in the starting lineup by Chris Fuamatu-Ma'afala.
He acknowledged that sitting out is best for all involved.
"I'm not anywhere near 100 percent, so I can definitely understand (being held out)," said Bettis, who has missed just three games in his nine-year career. "Plus, I have guys behind me that are 100 percent, so they need to be out there."
Bettis could not project when he will be ready to play again, saying only that he is a long way from being healthy.
"It's hard to tell; I haven't even started running yet," he said. "My lower extremities are bothering me. I don't know exactly what they call the injuries, but I know this: They hurt."
With Bettis out of the lineup, a showdown between the NFL's top runners will not come to fruition.
"I'm disappointed because Curtis is a friend of mine," Bettis said of Martin, the former Allderdice and Pitt star. "It's a bummer I don't get the opportunity to play against him. I enjoy Curtis Martin's game, and it would have been fun to go at it."
While Bettis officially was ruled out of tomorrow's game, injured right guard Rich Tylski, out the past two contests with a high ankle sprain, was upgraded from questionable to probable. Also, kick returner Hank Poteat (ankle) practiced for the first time this week.
As for the Jets, wide receiver Santana Moss (sore quadriceps) was added to the injury report and listed as probable.
