I have seen most people say it is never a good idea, but lately I have read a few places say it is recommended as long as you can afford it.

Does raising your bet on the same play after a loss doom you to failure, or is there circumstances in which it is actually a good idea?

A case in point would be the Dback loss to Detroit in the first game of their series. With Schilling it was a good bet, but a loss. The next day Randy was pitching, isnt it relatively safe to say that the DBacks can win the second game, and that this would be a good opportunity to get your money back from the first game?

And if there are any recommendations to raising your bet, how many times before you write the original bet off as a loss?
