I coach HS baseball and have coached it at the varsity level for 6 years. Baseball is one of the strangest games played with many strange things that happen. I also coach football, too. But anyway, I feel like I have seen everything. This year we were a playoff team with four seniors out of 16 players. We struggled against 2 teams that did not make playoffs. Our kids came out flat in all those games and and we won all the games in the sixth or seventh. Our kids knew they were better but just did not realize they actually had to play the game until the sixth inning. I think this happens in pro ball a lot. teams that are clearly better usually cruise into the 6th or 7th and suddenly realize "damn, we're losing the game", then turn it on. It doesn't mean it's rigged, just strange. In our playoff game, we lost 5-3 to a bad team. If this were a pro, you might say it was rigged. We outhit the other 10-3, left 15 guys on base and lost. Our pitchers threw well, we just made 4 errors in the second and gave them 5 runs. Baseball is a strange game and things like that happen. I have come from behind from 14-7 with outs in the seventh and get 9 straight hits with 2 outs to win 15-14. Is baseball rigged? Probably not on a continuous basis. Having coached a lot games, a lot of my games may looked rigged to someone who bet on the wrong team, but the beat goes on. People are human and do not always bring their A game to the table.
