Is online gambling legal in my area?

I want to open an offshore account, but only if online gambling is legal in my area. Does anyone know how I can find out if it's legal or not? I live in Illinois, does anyone know about the legality of online betting from there?

it is legal because you are conducting business in another country, hence "offshore"...your fine
