It is looking like I am definantly coming
to Vegas at the end of this month. They
called to say we are staying at the Hilton.
I was wondering how the sportsbook and
casino's are there? I am sure we will
be walking around a lot on Thursday
and Friday but Saturday I want to spend
the day at sportsbook. Anybody know
any good stuff....please post it.

Thanks

If you are referring to the Las Vegas Hilton as opposed to the Flamingo Hilton, the sports book is pretty nice. The hotel rooms are a little old, but reasonable in size and the hotel has most of the amenities you will find on the strip. But that's the rub - it isn't on the strip and unless you really enjoy walking, you will have to drive to the strip. The prices are usually low, restaurants are ok and gambling facilities fine. If you like to play horse, the book is pretty nice and they used to have Friday nite free contests where you could win $1,000. My wife was up here for a week on business and that is where we stayed. I think they have a shuttle to one or two casino locations - but this info is pre 9/11 so who knows what goes now.

LV Hilton

isn't that far from the strip. I'm talking a couple of blocks, no biggie. Now if your walking to lets say the Mandalay Bay, yes its a heck of a walk, but then again you have to walk to fully enjoy the Strip.
I stayed there many a times while attending LVPDs X-mas parties. Rooms are older, but comfortable. Be sure to ask for a Strip view. The Sportsbook is nice & the Racebook is HUGE, meaning mega more seats on the horse side.
Cocktails are free just tip the ladies a 1.00 each time & that will keep 'em coming back.

The Beach across the street from the Hilton, ROCKS !!
