This is in reference to the problems at WWTS as well as recent payout threads on another book sponsor.

First of all, to those with problems at WWTS, go elsewhere, lots of other good books that deserve your business. Carib is one I recommend all the time.

To be honest with you I wish when people continuously report problems with a book that advertises here, that Jack would talk to them or remove them as sponsors. While I understand the need to make money as much as anyone (having had my own business before) what we have here is a dicey situation.

On one hand we have threads that pop up from time to time with legitimate complaints. The one on WWTS being the most recent. There are cases such as the rounding thing, where this is not a disputable fact and is really something people should know about. However, lets take a new user, or someone in need of a new book. This person may not take the time to read through all the threads and discern what the problems may be with said book. It may be too late by the time they figure it out. I wish there was a way to keep this from happening. New users who get screwed may be less likely to come back and contribute in the future. And I consider this a very bad thing. To survive and thrive, we need to constantly be adding new and happy users.

On the other hand recently, we have had a thread deleted recently that had references to a very popular and in my opinion very good sportsbook. It was deleted because they repeatedly have dicked Jack over in terms of not advertising here and by talking about them and recommending them we had essentially been giving them free advertising. Fine, I respect that. There is no need to give people free advertising when all they do is dick you over. If I were in Jack's shoes I would have done the exact same thing. However, its a shame in that case we cant help people out more.

I love the work Jack does here, he provides a valuable resource to thousands of folks like myself. Whats the solution? I dont know.

What about a rating system? Like Amazon, users of MJs could rate each book on a seperate page with comments. Any new user or current MJer could go there and read comments from actual users. Is this too much of a conflict for advertisers? I could see a situation where if there are too many negative comments, they may get pissed and pull out. But in this case, if so many people go out of their way to rate and write about a bad book, should it even be on the list of books people have to chose from? Perhaps it would encourage books to be more conscious of the fact that as a group, thousands of users represent a big force and should be listened to.

I dont know. Jack, hope you dont get pissed and realize this is just a few suggestions from a very happy user which I hope will lead to helping folks in the future.

Thoughts?

Not a bad suggestion.....

Not a bad suggestion.....

But the bottom line remains that we should use our discretion in choosing our outs, and that includes patronizing the advertisers here. Due diligence on Jack's part can only go so far. Most of the books here, like WWTS, WSEX, Carib, Pinnacle and Royal are solid, the creme-de-la-creme. If a player feels that WWTS' method of calculating parlays are a disadvantage to the player, then he has every right to voice his displeasure, and readers can then decide and act if they so choose. Maybe WWTS will then get the message.

It's no secret that the strength of MadJack's is HANDICAPPING. Some self-proclaimed "watchdog" sites that focus on the offshore scene are inviting places for shills or rumor-mongers. Let's keep it that way. I'll always return to MadJack's for some of the best handicapping around.
