Italian housewives who complained when a young neighbour began distracting their husbands have been told to be sexier by their mayor. A committee of wives of Missaglia, northern Italy, made an official complaint against an unnamed 20-year-old woman who recently moved to the village from nearby Casatenovo. The wives claimed the newcomer spent most of her time sunbathing topless on her house's balcony drawing the attention of their husbands. But Mayor Marta Casiraghi told Il Nuovo website: "I have noticed the girl sunbathing topless myself, and I understand that our women might feel threatened by her beauty. "Having said that, I really can't do anything on an official basis, as sunbathing topless is largely tolerated nowadays, and is also nothing that should worry the local municipality. "I should rather advise my fellow female citizens to be more sexy, so that they won't feel threatened by anything." The committee has now announced that further initiatives will be taken, while the unnamed sunbather has refused to make any comment.
